Couldn't really care one way or another. For all Palace fans aged 60+ it is and always has been Millwall who we regard as the rivals. It would be good to see how both Dwight G and Glenn M get on against Premier opposition.

I am and I don't and, more to the point, they definitely don't.

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

That's all very well and all that, but you will find any Millwall fan 40,50,60+ regard west ham as their main rivals.we just annoy them like Charlton annoy us so hardly a rivalry.

I recall the rivalry with Millwall in bygone days.
I remember getting off the train at 'Norwood Junction' after a Palace game at the 'The Den' and there were a load of Millwall reprobates waiting outside the entrance and the chants of "Denny where are you ?" at 'Selhurst Park' in reference to Denny Warren who might be known to many on HOL.

Back in the day just like now knowledge of names of other firm members was common.
Millwall would wait for most clubs at their local stations in search of whoever.
They even went to a spurs game can't remember who against, when they were supposed to be playing Sunderland I think and had a go at them there and spurs aren't millwalls rivals.

4 years ago I was driving through Hastings, when I noticed a boy in a Brighton shirt walking over a pedestrian crossing 50 metres ahead.

Instinctively, I found my right foot nailed to the floor and the car accelerating towards the boy.

It took a second or two for me to engage brain and think.."WTF are you doing ?" and apply the brakes.

A week later I ran over a herring gull. (it was already injured). Bill Oddie would be furious as they are a protected species, and therefore in theory a criminal offence.

I probably would have got the greater prison sentence for running over the gull, than the Brighton fan

Rivalry can have irrational outlets

I disengage, I turn the page.

In hindsight if you had done things vice versa that would've been a valid defence in court "yeah I ran over the lad in the Brighton shirt but I subsequently stopped for a herring gull". They'd have given you a £50 fine and 2 hours community service at worst.

Didn't Millwall have someone called "Bomber Brown ?"
And I recall the Chelsea "Headhunters".

In terms of reprobates travelling to other grounds, I remember going to see Palace play Reading at the old 'Elm Park' and a number of Southampton supporters decided to turn up.Cannot recall anything happening in terms of violence.

Doesn't ring a bell. However, you can purchase a bomber brown leather jacket.

Yes. I'd love to whup them again and would love the 2 derby matches. Some atmosphere them. I remember going down to Brighton when we inflicted their first defeat at their poxy new stadium. That was some atmosphere, before during and after the game. Proper old skool. I was also there when they whupped us that Sunday morning the season we went up, worst day out in football I've ever had getting marched around Brighton town centre by the police in the pouring rain for ages, getting to the game late, getting hammered and then held outside the ground after our defeat again in the rain while the muggy little Brighton fans laughed at us and abused us from safe inside the stadium. I also remember home leg of the play offs their dickhead fans turning up singing Wembley. BEFORE the 1st leg! I didn't make the 2nd leg unfortunately but can't beat the Brighton games.
