Under Ron Noades we were a selling club. He was very fortunate with Coppell and Wright making his tenure look much better than it otherwise was. Every time we had a decent player come along he would line his own pockets ahead of the needs of the club. If transfer windows were around then we'd have been praying just to keep what we have. There would have been no chance in him investing in decent players. He just signed cheap donkeys. At the end he just decided to sell the club down the river and its taken us the best part of two decades to recover. Absolutely spot on Jee. This is just one of the major firsts for CPFC that SP has achieved that his detractors overlook. For the first time in our history we’re a non selling Premiership club. But that’s still not good enough for them. Wallies.

Yes lets get some rich Arab in and have us as a toy! We will be waving our freely provided flags with a dictatorship logo at the bottom and be happy. Uhhhmmm, no thanks, I don't want to go down but really it is not the end of the world. Originally posted by Maine Eagle
I used to support Parish 100%. I commended him when he finally splashed some cash on Benteke, as it was a big step for him as a chairman. However he is doing damage to the club now and its in areas where it would be so simple to do things right. What success? Its sh&t storm after sh&t storm, year after year. Your constant witterings in support of a chairman who is totally out of his depth are quite tedious also. See what I did there? I want the club to be successful. I loved it when Pulis came in and steadied the ship for example, that was a great job by Parish to get Pulis in. We all know how that turned out though. Parish has done some good things and made some great strides at the club, but in the last 2 seasons its been a shambles. I would just like to see the club being run properly. Enough strikers, enough goalies, not hiring manager's that 3 year old's could figure out would be a disaster, keeping a good manager for once, etc etc. We need to protect our premiership status almost at all costs. I know some fans wouldn't mind us getting relegated but its not my idea of a good thing.

At least we might see a few of these moaning idiots fall away and go and support a club that is achieving all that they expect us to be doing.

When Goldberg tried to splash the cash, we signed a load of mersonaries and almost ended up going out of business. Clubs like Cardiff, QPR, and Blackburn have had big foreign investors and ended up in the same position. More often than not teams who take this route end up worse off than they started. Benteke should be a lesson for us all in that regard, we have to sign players that want to play for the club. Throwing money around doesn't always work.

As I have said about 87 times - Parish should keep a hold of the club but recognize he is a woefully inept chairman when it comes to transfers and managerial matters. He is a businessman, and should run the non footballing matters at the club. Give those other tasks, lock stock, to someone already at the club or bring a fresh face in. Then we might actually: Sell some dead wood for once.... As Parish often says "the sun will come up" even if we go down, but it will hamper the development of the stadium, and all the rest of the things we should be modernizing. I know Parish has done a lot there (an area where he actually does know his a^se from his elbow) but of course more is needed.

I give you six words that I suspect will mean very little to you, but will put the rant above in perspective for anyone who remembers the time before the current 5 years in the Premiership. Trevor Francis Now that is turgid crap, trying to make sure you maintain mid-table Championship status. Edited by robdave2k (27 Feb 2018 7.53pm)

That we had some sh&t players and managers in the past? Yep.... And....? Ade Akinbiyi was a poor man's Cameron Jerome. Alex Kolinko was poor man's Alex Mccarthy. Trevor Francis was a poor man's George Burley. I have followed Palace all my life, which stretches back a bit further than 5 years ago (believe it or not ) I have 7 words which might mean something to you: Steve Parish is a totally inept chairman.

Parish has been lucky to get us this far if I'm honest. We have only stayed up because of sacking managers and bringing in fire fighters nearly every year. Dougie was brought into handle the football side of things but he's done nothing so far other than sign two u23 players who won't get into the first team. The blame for the window should go on dougie but at the end of the day it's Parish who hires all these crap managers and brought back a guy who left us for money when we sat at the top of the championship.

Could always bin off Parish & get in some Thai bloke like Cardiff did but we all know what happened there or, what about that Sports direct chap at Newcastle, he's done a wonderful job, hasn't he ?

Question. If Roy retired and Parish got in a decent manager, would you be happier with Roy completely running the club's transfers and policy than Parish? Or would you rely on Parish learning from this season's mistakes? No need to claim people want Parish out then, is there?

I have followed Palace all my life, which stretches back a bit further than 5 years ago (believe it or not ) I have 7 words which might mean something to you: Steve Parish is a totally inept chairman. Well, simply put, that's silly. It is not supported by the evidence. Main points in his favor: He purchased the club in 2010; the team got promoted in 2013; we have been to one cup final (only our second proper cup final ever); we have achieved the longest consecutive period in the top flight in the club's 113 years of history; the club has had four of its highest ever league finishes; the club owns its own ground (again); they have improved the facilities (although there is a way to go); they have plans in place to expand the ground (also a ways to go); we have one of our best ever first 11, with only the 1990-91 side clearly better (albeit most of the current lot seem to be semi-permanently injured). Main points against: consecutive poor transfer windows; over-promises when he should keep quiet; imbalanced squad (albeit one horrifically ravaged by injuries); troubles with FFP (presumably because of some of the dross still on the books); we have struggled to hold onto managers (although that has not always been his fault); hmmm, that's about it. So, we have had four of our best six (or seven) finishes in the league ever, only our second ever proper cup final, and we have been in the top division for a longer consecutive spell than in our entire history and yet, you claim, he is totally inept. That is simply put, bizarre.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |
