Good points but this is the worry. Getting 0 points in the last 3 games really hasn't helped. Taking into account that we have to play the top 6 we really have only 10 games or so to average 2 points a game, then only getting 36 or so points. Next 5 games are huge, Boro and Sunderland are must wins. Allardyce might improve us but if it is not until the last 8 or so games against real quality we will be stuffed. Whilst he did it for Sunderland achieving some great results along the way doubt whether they had this type of run nor with 6 real quality teams at the top. To add insult to injury every team with the points that the Weeds have now have achieved automatic promotion since 3 points for a win !!! Looks like we might need 2 miracles. COYP !! We have 16 games every one is winnable. Win five draw five lose six gets us to 36 points as long as the five we win are against the right teams it could be enough.

Different football styles require the players that match them. No we were not FACT. 6 wins in 46 games, and we were leaking goals all over the shop the 5-4 defeat to swansea being the most inept display of game management I have seen from a premiership manager. SA has inherited all the issues AP left behind, and from what I saw (against a very good, in form Everton) yesterday we looked much better at the beck, with three at the back and wing backs. Schlup looked the business in that system, Ward not so much. We did at times make some chances and with a tad more luck we get a point at least from the game, agaict a very good Everton team, who are on a 6 in 5 winning streak including beating City 4-0. To say we are "worse" under Sam is just personel dislike masquerading as informed opinion. We looked much better at the back, Hennessey looked like the keeper he could be, and Schlup looks to be a good signing. We have 4 very winnable fixtures coming up: Bournemouth I think we need to take a minimum of eight points from those games to be in with a shout of staying up. Draw with Bournemouth, beat Sunderland, draw with stoke, and beat boro. But to blame SA is as commical as it is clueless. It's like putting Lewis Hamilton in a Mini and wondering why he comes drop dead last at an F1 grand prix.

I cannot believe that there are people that still think Pardew did a good job? They must still believe that Jimmy Saville was a good egg doing his bit for charity! Pardew has left us in the sh1t and Parrish should have got rid of him within 24 hours of our FA Cup defeat. It's not only his 2016 Premiership record of just 6 wins, it was his regime that saw our ability to defend ruined, our fitness levels drop, our disciplinary record worsen and he removed our captain and midfield ball winner and didn't replace him. He allowed Bolasie, Murray and Gayle to depart relying on Townsend, Campbell and Mutch to replace them? I also blame Pardew for not coaching and mentoring Wilf Zaha who might have stayed content with being on the cusp of the England squad instead he opted to sign for the Ivory Coast and is now missing from our team for over a month competing in the AFCON tournament! To blame Allardyce who has only been able to sign one player to date and to take over a team, low on confidence, short of decent players due to international duties and a long injury list is just plain ridiculous. If we had played Everton yesterday adopting a Pardew "Gung-ho" style, we would have been dicked 4-0 like Man City were last Sunday. It's going to take a few more weeks for Big Sam/Little Sam to turn this around. we need a few more key players to come back from injury and Wilf and Sako to get back from the AFCON. Hopefully we can sign some influential players, but this time of year is not the best. Looking at the fixture list we have games coming up where we can beat those around us and our mini league of rivals have difficult games. Swansea's win yesterday was a shock, but I can't see the rest of the top 6 slipping up like the scousers did yesterday... Chelsea can do us a favour today by beating Hull. Pardew was TOXIC for Palace... he has set us back years. Allardyce will turn this around, but will need time and patience from us fans. Apologies for quoting you twice. I agree with everything you've said there. I've stated pretty much the same previously but I will take exception with regards Wilf.

But his not been given a mini has he, his inherited a squad that's more than capable of holding its own in this league. It's not rocket science, the players either take to him and his plans or they don't. To continue to blame pardew is just as clueless.

So you reckon you can hold a manager that's been in the job a month as accountable as a man that was doing the job previously for 2 years?

That is simply not true, the long term record and trend showed very clearly we were heading for the drop if the form of 2016 continued. AP almost on his own destroyed a good performing team at the end of 2015 to one in 2016 that was ranked 92/92 based on points ratio earned per game, which from memory was something like 0.72 per game which would have seen us accumulate season total over 38 games of 27 points. He had to go and should have gone at the end of May 2016 and then we would probably not be in the situation we are in today.

i think some posters are interpreting statistics in different ways. Which is fine. 'Thumbs Up'Pardew had a couple of seasons with us, but near the end of his reign, the club were going downwards, and if you extrapolated the dataset to today, you could argue the case that we'd likely be in the drop zone. None of us knows the mood in the dressingroom and whether Sam is instilling a new mentality, improving fitness, or targeting players from other clubs to strengthen areas of weakness. All of this takes time. What I do know is that lots of fans wanted Parish to pull the trigger on Pardew much earlier than he did. Regardless of whether anyone better was going to be available as a replacement. Personally, I'm glad we have BFS. It's going to take time/money/effort to bale out this sinking ship. I think a lot of us remember Dowie's magical half season in 2004, which made us think we could do anything. Have faith in BFS. We have no choice. But it ain't gonna be easy
I disengage, I turn the page. |
