"I think you are overlooking the fact that Pardew left a husk of a squad with its confidence shot through. You dont turn round a sinking ship that quickly. I will start to judge Allerdyce on the players he brings in to the squad to address the biggest weaknesses and ultimately there is only one think I want from him this season which is to keep us up. Just as he did at Sunderland with a weaker squad where it took ten or so games to imprint his personality on the team"

What a silly bunch of kids with a banner, is of no relevance.

The whole problem Allardyce has inherited is a bunch of unfit players, Pardew reign was a disgrace in terms of fitness, that is the main reason we kept losing late on in games. players became tired and lost concentration.

He now has to get them fitter, if we are to stand any chance.

Pardew was nowhere near making us a good team again, he was just papering over the cracks.

quite right, Sam is a good manager and all I want from him is to keep us up, Pardew has made that task really tough and we only have a very short and expensive transfer window to find the players we desperately need I just wish people would stop going on about AP as he is history and will not be back!

yes he did lose but against swansea in particular the team was clueless - in total disarray the last time I watched a palace team this bad was the 4 - 0 drubbing under kember at west ham

Allardyce has had time to instil a discipline and style take pulis and pardew's first days as examples

blame for these last 2 losses lies firmly with the current manager only

I never thought he was any good as a coach/manager now I'm certain

still hope to be proven wrong though

I'm sorry but AP has to be the blame for our current position, after 19 games last season we had 31 points and yet the second 19 saw us get only 11 points, then you carry on the second half of last season with the first half of this whilst AP was in change then we would have easily been relegated had that been the theoretical season. Its the form trend that has been destroyed by AP, we were in a great position at the end of 2015 and then AP convinced SP that he was a top six experienced PL who was going to get CP in to Europe, sadly SP let his heart rule his head to such an extent that following the very poor performance in the second half of last season SP still gave AP a new contract when firing him would have been the correct business decision and then on top of that allowed him to bring in players who were second rate at their existing clubs unlikely to ever figure in the first team or some even had sick notes in their pockets hardly the decisions of a top six experienced PL Manager!

So when exactly can we start holding Allardyce accountable for our performances and results?

Let me guess.... after our first win

When would you allow us to end it with Pardew?

6 wins in 1 year (already happened)

12 wins in 2 years?

1 win every 6 matches (which is the same and already happened)

Notice the trend yet?

not after less than four weeks in the job, fair judgement will be just to ask him to keep us up, he is really up against it, Pardew legacy, team that has forgotten how to win or defend, players who are not really worth what we paid for them or indeed up to the required standard, short transfer window, limited funds and on top of all this he has turnaround the mess that AP created over a year with one short and one long transfer period and frankly the largest spend budget in CP history, not easy, so lets hope he can pull it off!

Why? I think that his legacy is the way the players have lost their confidence.
The link below is a good read and reason for not wanting Pardew back, Big Sam has a long job on his hands.

yes seems a fair assessment of just how bad things are, good picture of Benteke, no sweat on body or shirt, gloves on hands, only needs a blanket to keep him warm whilst he lets the rest do all the work!

It is not that simplistic, any new managers needs at least six games to just be able to understand what he is dealing with, Sam record is there for all to see, he has never been relegated and he did an excellent job at Bolton on limited resources and again at Sunderland. We have to hope he can do the business for us because otherwise if we head back to championship with the wage bill we have we will be in the deep brown stuff with a bunch of expensive misfits who we will not be able to get our money back from selling them on because no one will pay what we have paid out for second string at best players!
