I would certainly say that relegation would be regression.
And as far as I know Sam has not broken any laws

Haven't read every comment on this thread as quite frankly some of them have the mental level of my 5-year old. I accept some people here have been coming and watching palace for more years than I have been alive, and when you have been stumping up that kind of money and investing a huge part of your life in a club and it's highs and lows you start to run out of patience when you feel players are not making the effort, the board isn't signing players quickly enough , you don't like the manager and so on. Sam coming here was always going to divide opinion due to the cloud hanging over his departure as England manager. I have made my feelings known about my dislike of him sitting down most of r he game. That said I have also taken on board the comments of several people (two of them from a military background interestingly) who say he is actually managing. You give your instructions , retreat and only intervene if it's required. Standing about barking at people can have a detrimental affect. He looks negative and a bit disinterested in press conferences as well which does rile me BUT if he can keep us safe this season over the summer the club can take stock. He may not be the man for us long term. He may not be Mr right.. more Mr right for now. What we need is a win a few wins to pick the team up and the fans up. Can't believe the amount of arguing, insults and nonsense on here at the moment. Every one seems to be at each.others throats. Many of the main posters on this site seem to have retreated and taken up a silence while every one else trades insults, repetitive posts and outright crazy nonsense. Where's the humour and fun gone. Can it return please.

Whereas if a thread in General Talk a few months ago is anything to go by a large number of our supporters have as they were talking about life in prison but hey ho this is HOL so hypocrisy is only to be expected

The facts are that the top six will always be the top six these days we will never be able to compete financially and we should be satisfied to survive in the PL and I really do think the team and club have made great progression since the dark days of Third division South!

I don't think Sam needs to prowl the technical area for 90 minutes to prove he cares or to do his job,Super Al never used to sit down ,a lot of good that did.
Also it seems to me that the younger or more recent Palace fans are the ones who are the most critical or have preconcieved impressions of managers or players, and sometimes condemn them before they've been given a chance.

He is in the technical area in games now. He was assessing the squad before hence him sitting and taking it all in.
The bloke knows what he is doing. Fills me with confidence much like Pullis did. He just needs time to sort the s*** that Pards left behind our.

Maybe I should have explained better bicycle . As a sweeping generalisation I tend to find younger people jump up and down and do a lot of pant wetting and shouting , the older posters I refer to seem to fall into one of two camps.. the have faith it will all work out and if we do go down then it's ok as we have been through worse and survived. Or they are a bit jaded, don't find the match day experience as enjoyable anymore. Some of them are thinking of not renewing season tickets for example. I realise that's not every one .

Allardyce is yesterday's man and a hasbeen. A son of Warnock. He was bloody good twelve years ago at Bolton but his demeanour now is that of Stan Ogden propping up the bar on his last pint but suddenly finding a £5 note in his back packet.

Sam doesn't prowl up and down the touchline mainly because I'm sure he's had heart conditions.
The criticism of Sam is that the football is crap to watch. I would agree, but it's no different than what Leicester were coming out with last year.
Depends on what people want I suppose; get hammered by teams and pop up with a 1-0 win or play some decent stuff (Pardew) and lose pretty much all your matches in a year.
We had a great manager in Pulis and couldn't hold onto him.
