Wise words Willo. And of course he (AP) has a point. He would be wiser to make it after leaking goals and winning, rather then leaking goals and loosing but I for one enjoy watching us far more then under Pullis. Scott Dan was not quite at it Saturday, and thought Mc Arthur was having an unusual poor game too. Combine that with Ward not looking too comfortable on the left and we have some reasons why we did not perform as well as we can expect. Would still very much have deserved the point though after that second half display.

And what have been the reasons for the rest of our poor PL performances this year? I can think of one factor that's been common to them all.

Dutch Can I ask if you are saying that you are happy watching us not win 25 of 30 games? Can i ask why, Surely even you must be somewhat frustrated with the situation, the common denominator in this whole scenario is AP

We now have to learn all the basics, how to stop teams scoring, how not to lose games, how to score goals from field play rather than relying on the hit and hope long ball all the time and then last but not least how to win at home. I really do not see why it so important to score lots of goal as one will do as long as you can stop the other side scoring. AP is clearly to blame for the current run of bad form and hopefully SP will be having words!

Having read through this thread there are quite a few good points being posted and for AP to say he is not bothered about clean sheets I think that was an off the cuff retort due to the criticism he is getting from both us and the media. He never was one to take advice or take heed to his mistakes as a player so how the hell is he going to do it as a manager?
I seriously think AP is delusional as do many other members and fans on here, as for him to say he likes playing entertaining football surely you have to make sure your back four work as a team with the goalkeeper and in the correct positions they like to play in and not a defence that is made up of a few favourites or any four names!
I would really like to know just how much time AP spends on the training ground as mistakes are being made time and time again even when he says "We have been working on a tight back four all week"..... The results just do not show this I am afraid and there must be someone on these boards knows the answer to the total amount of time he does actually train the team or does he leave it to his staff? I would really like to know I really would. I know that when Terry Venables was manger he used to go to training sessions every time at Godstone when we had the training ground out there and used to watch him take the training with my son sat next to me. he took an active interest with fitness, goalkeeping and all other aspects. We had a fit team then that all the players knew what was expected of them and could continue for the full 90 minutes and extra time if needed.
Our team today seem to have lost their passion to play for the first 45 minutes and it takes a halftime talk to get them up and running. when they should come out at the start of the match all guns blazing with a defence that does its job and not all go flying up the field leaving the goalkeeper on his own. I think personally it is down to the team set up to be honest and some of the team set ups that are put up before a match by our Holmesdale posters are by far a mile better than what AP puts out each week allowing for injuries that do occur from time to time.
I am not a football manager and do not profess to be but I can see like so many of you do where things are going tits up and I cannot for the life of me why AP cannot swallow his stubborn pride just for once and take a bit of advice because his way is just not working you only have to look at recent results and the look on our players faces. There is an instant look of no interest and no passion.
I have seen many bad runs in my time as a Palace fan and I shall see a few more no doubt before I pop my clogs but it would be so very nice to see the lads come out on the pitch and play the kind of football we all crave for with passion and determination and who work their socks off and enjoy their time doing it.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

If we get Fat Sam in early enough we won't go down.

Style and entertainment are secondary to SP and the owners and board and the sane fans who aren't sycophants.

and with that, I have the answer.

Don't sack Pards, just recruit Big Sam.

Pards can do the first half of the season, t1tting about with sexy football, passing, hitting on the break et al and then come January, Big Sam steps in and does the relegation battle bit, shoreup the defense and nick games 1:0.

Job share to the extreme.

Job Done.

.. in June 1976 he started to build the team that became the team of the eighties, I was just wondering if you were referring to his training methods of that side or the one with the backing of Mark Goldberg in 1998/99, because his training methods worked in one but not the other, do not forget he inherited Mr Allison's team the first time.

..the facts are that Mr Pardew wants his team to become better, he has achieved one half and it is because of this I feel he is having problems with the other, defending when knowing the opposition is coming (as in last season) ..is a little different to when being caught on a break (this season) ..this is totally new for our set up and our defenders and it also makes sense as to why we are having problems with other issues ..such as set play, our defenders need time.
