Yep, hard and perfectly placed. He would make a proven short term investment, assuming Bournemouth will sell him back at Brighton have no say in the matter (they won't be happy)

He's missed his fair share though

I can't believe that this post is still going! Look, we all loved Murray but we sold him for good money to a competitor (who are doing better than us...) and they got shot as well. How anyone can rationalise beyond that is beyond me.

His level is Championship, I'm afraid.

.. it is still going because we badly need a proven striker NOW. Can you name a better striker (at a modest price) for the short term ? We spent 28 million on Benteke and for whatever reason he has not proved to be worth it - I am sure he, Murray or whoever we get will come good if we find the missing link - a ball holding, creative midfielder, so conspicuously absent in the second half against Watford when we looked like headless chickens.

Better at what level? This is a bit like pining after the ex who you let go but still keep thinking about ringing for a booty call. Sad

To suggest we have replaced like for like is utter nonsense.

We sold Murray for a decent price to another Premier League side and he hardly cut the mustard for Bournemouth.

Both Wickham and Benteke are better options up front and both have age on their side.

No doubt people will chuck a few stats about and point to his current form but we are in a far tougher division and currently scoring goals.

Time to let the past stay in the past.

Benteke yet to prove he's worth 28-32 million pounds
Wickham made of glass, always on treatment table
Remy? Will never play for Palace, always injured
We need another striker urgently
Someone like Defoe who scores goals!

All of this is true. If Benteke was worth £27m+ the bin dippers wouldn't have sold him. I think we knew he was really worth 20m or so but once we got the money for Yala it wasn't so painful to overpay.

Wickham has become injury prone, Remy always was.
A striker is a priority but booty calls with an ex seldom live up to expectations

Sadly I cannot see Sunderland selling their only "get out of jail" card to a relegation rival!

Has anyone considered that because Murray has played at PL level it has honed his skills against stronger / better defenders and, therefore, made him more difficult to handle against lesser Championship defenders (yes - I know he was good before). The same could be said of Gayle, although I appreciate they are playing him in the right set up at Newcassel.

Ok here's the deal people.

We have scored the 6th highest amount of goals in the league this season.

That's amazing!

But we've let in the 3rd most of goals at the other end.

Personally I'd say it's the latter we need to sort first.

Yes if Benteke gets injured we need to find goals from elsewhere but let's be far Benteke hasn't scored all 29 of our goals.

So I say again it really is the defence we should be worried about.

I can not understand the necessity to spend our limited resources on goals when we're the sixth most efficient goal machine already.
