'Newcastle have indicated they may be prepared to offer him a rise to his £55,000-a-week wages to stay with the club in the Championship, although Palace are willing to give him an £80,000-a-week contract to move back to London.' Is he worth 80k a week though?

Would be an up grade to the squad, direct, knows where the net is and above all showed that he had the right attitude at Newcastle by working hard and scrapping in a relegation struggle.

Matt Law is pretty legit to be fair, doesn't mess about with too much bull. But 80k, surely not....

£80k seems a lot but it is the way players wages are going. The new TV deal? just means more money goes out of the game. In a year or two's time, it won't make a blind bit of difference.

Link below states that he'll cost us £10.5M as we finished in the bottom half of the table and his release clause is significantly high for us than for a top half team offering for him. See link for full details [Link] So seems like the cup run / Pards effect may have cost us an £2.5m. Doubt we'd have to pay him £80/wk more like £60/wk plus bonuses. Still he's a class player with more end product than our current wingers. Personally I'd like to see Gayle stay but maybe he's gonna be offered as payment. Might make sense if SP is intent on splashing cash elsewhere.... Edited by Goldfiinger (06 Jun 2016 5.46pm)

Listening to talk sport this morning saying the press is split on wether he's coming to us or staying with the mags , phill brown reckons he'd be better off staying with a championship winning team than going into a relegation bound team , cheeky get !!
