Would be an up grade to the squad, direct, knows where the net is and above all showed that he had the right attitude at Newcastle by working hard and scrapping in a relegation struggle.

Why not? We'd be effectively getting a £12m player for £8m & 3 years x an extra £25k per week is another £3.9 m.

So seems like the cup run / Pards effect may have cost us an £2.5m.

Doubt we'd have to pay him £80/wk more like £60/wk plus bonuses. Still he's a class player with more end product than our current wingers.

Personally I'd like to see Gayle stay but maybe he's gonna be offered as payment. Might make sense if SP is intent on splashing cash elsewhere....
