When I moved to Selsdon I believed we had a train station, it was called Selsdon Station. But it wasn't near Selsdon, and it closed in 1983.

I was so upset I moved to France. France has a railway station.

Yeah but isn't it closed at the moment?

It is closed. It's France, it's August. France is closed.

Do you think it will be open for christmas?
It ought to open for christmas. People buy lots of stuff at christmas.
If it is open for christmas I might go for a train ride there.
Do you know what the station in France is called?
Just in case I decide to book a ticket.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]

i had to commute by trains to most of my jobs ... Used to live in Mottingham and the excuses I've heard there ... Wrong kind of rain, wind, snow, leaves on the line and my personal favourite ... There's a body on the line ... I found out the next day they turned off power between dartford and lewisham to remove a dead ... RABBIT from the line!!!

Oh and Lower Sydenham ... Done genius built the tracks BELLW ground level so when it rains (and it did ... OFTEN) it floods and trains don't run.

Being deafened I can't hear the tannoy so once when it snowed and pandemonium at London bridge I asked the platform manager what is going on? His reply was "I don't know" ... Took me SIX hours to get home that night too.

They say hard work never hurt anyone ... but why take a chance?
