Lyth out, Hales in. They will only want to play with one spinner and will not drop Moeen Ali.

England 1 v Dads Army 1 If that is supposed to be sarcasm let me remind you that it was your very own Jason Gillespie who referred to them as Dad's Army

Lyth out, Hales in. There is no guarantee that Hales or indeed any other County opener (which Hales isn't) would do any better as there is no bowling attack on the county circuit that is anywhere near as ferocious and destructive as Johnson, Starc and Hazlewood are when on song like they were at Lords

A week ago I suggested we close the thread.... Now, well, I'm feeling fine and dandy about it again! Solid collapse, that. Onto the next one; what a strange series thus far!!

Solid collapse, that. Onto the next one; what a strange series thus far!! I think that spectacular collapse would be more like it. Hopefully Mitchell Johnson will do a McGrath and twist his ankle warming up for the next test and perhaps we should recall a batsman with greater mental strength to shore up our batting and I'm not referring to KP but to Paul Collingwood

Surely England will play two spinners at Edgebaston. The ball turns there so surely Rashid will partner Ali. Bairstow should come in also.

Again England capitulated in spectacular fashion. For our supposedly elite batsmen to surrender so meekly defies belief. I suppose Strauss will follow up with the same 11 again, personally would want to see Bairstow for Buttler, Taylor for Balance,Bell to be replaced by Petersen. Not going to happen but we would have a batting line up who can and will dig in. Get a specialised spinner in. Ali is is a great at short format but has consistently under performed at Test level. Looking forward to a 4-1 drubbing

Lyth, Ballance and Bell are not up to it.
Ballance can be replaced by Root moving to 3 (with Bairstow replacing Root). Bell can be replaced by moving Stokes up the order and bringing in Rashid as an all rounder (spinner as well as a half decent batsman). Batting order... Cook I'd keep my eye on Cook as well... he is still getting caught playing outside his off stump to deliveries he can leave alone

I know Australia are number one in the world and yes, they played well in the second test, but I'm really not impressed with them. England are effectively playing with only seven wickets because Lythe, Balance and Bell are s***e. Bairstow needs to come in, maybe Morgan and as I've seen somewhere else on this thread Hales. I still believe we can win the series, even after the weekends surrender because for me Australia aren't all that, just my humble opinion of course.
