Send Murray across as a make weight?? Hope you are f**king joking. He's 31, got a good 2/3 seasons playing at his peak.

Not sure about at his peak, but I'd rather keep him that campbell.

Murray would be a decent backup to Austin,

No better than Murray

Really? Behave yourself.

Think they are a very similar level if I'm honest , Austin is no doubt the better finisher/goal scorer and will get more goals , but Murray is a better target man and hold up player , at 25 though austin has 6 years on Murray and is only going to improve.

Which is what we want to finish off the wing play by wilf & yannick, or through balls from punch.

They are not a similar level really...I like murray but Austin is blatently better when you take your palace hat off,

We should go for Austin, proven quality and as others have said, will score buckets of goals for us.

I question, though, whether we have the ambition to seriously attempt to sign him, on financial grounds.

Spot on, also Austin working day on day with Murray will help develop him. Murray is valuable to the squad not only for his playing ability but also for his experience and leadership.

Paying £15m on somebody who needs to be developed ? Not what we need and at that price we would have mugs as our new nickname.

He needs no developing, curly wants an excuse for us to keep murray.

Although it might be nice to have a lad like austin pick up some moves from wilf and yala.

Yes, I rate muzzy very highly, does exactly what it says on the tin. Works hard, holds up play and brings the best out in wilf and yala. Still believe that Austin would improve his all round game by working with muzzy.o

When was he at his peak then? Scoring goals in the championship? F**king jerome did that last year.
Or terrorising Kompany, demachachalis, and bullying top level defenders like he did when he scored the goals that kept us up.

Definitely. Muzza's the nuts...end of and could definitely teach Austin a thing or three. Signing him with Murray as an option (to come on or the other way round) makes far more sense than giving those QPR haha muppets someone who could fire them back up with ease. Otherwise get Remy or similar as a different option altogether. Don't ever disrespect the Maryport fella...I've a Workington background and Muzza was there way back (at Workington having been born up the road in Maryport) For those who rely on PratNav rather than knowing the geography of the UK...they're both on the Cumbriam coast. Right, before I get some docile response I'm going to the boozer. Lights out!
