think England lost the plot abit myself. did not need to go that gung-ho from the get go. could have kept composure and 26 points could have been reached. attacking expansive rugby is great to watch, but if it had been against one of the southern hemisphere big boys we'd have been smashed. this is what we need to look at with the WC months away.

good to watch i suppose, just not very disciplined in defence

But it wasn't. You play the opponent and situation in front of you.

It wasn't this game that we dropped the points we needed either. That was against Italy and Scotland.

we didn't do that right either!!

should have all been played at the same time. then you'd have seen negative england yet again

It was the right way to play that game. It got the French to throw it about as well. If we'd been negative, so would they I reckon.

With a bit of perspective England finished second on points difference of less than a converted try. A twenty point margin against France is a decent score. England were ok in all their matches except against Ireland. In fact, I believe the two best performances of the Six Nations came from England - in Wales and at home to France.
Italy and Scotland are not at the races but it looks like there is little to choose between England, Wales and Ireland.
England were missing so many players in this tournament that meant this six nations could easily have gone badly and it didn't. It went well and England clearly have the luxury of having two squads of decent players. Not many are absolutely outstanding - except perhaps Mike Brown - but there is a good team there that may surprise some.
