I read here (http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/06/19/west-ham-and-crystal-palace-linked-demba-ba-unlikely-to-make-pre/?) that Ba is on 120k a week. WIth that in mind, surely Remy would be the better deal. Snap Jose's hand off whilst West Ham are preoccupied buying up every available Spanish speaking midfielder.

Swansea and Newcastle are after Deeney for 15m. We can probably get Remy for 15m including addons (a la Zaha manure) who is a bloody good striker. It was his attitude that was a difficulty at QPR but no news of that recently. He's mellowed out at Chelsea and is still fukin magical to watch. Lad can have barely a couple seconds on the ball and no space and smash it within inches of the post. We could do with a lad who buries them that tends to create a few for himself! Makes me think of Gayle a touch but he ain't found himself a proper position to relax into and create from.

I do like Remy but I'd still prefer Jordan Rhodes at a cheaper price. I believe he'd score us a lot more goals.

This wouldn't involve Steve Parish turning up at Stamford Bridge with 15m in used fivers in a brown paper bag. There will be a structured payment plan that would mitigate some of our risk.

Do those structured payment plans work for the top players? I can understand Steve Parish wanting to structure a payment plan which reduces the cost if we get relegated but I can equally understand the selling club not wanting to suffer on grounds completely unrelated to the player they are selling. We also have form for restricting the appearances of players if a further payment based on number of appearances is getting close

Also didn't we have a £50m war chest to play with last year? If that was true, surely we have at least that this year so £15m isn't a ridiculous amount to blow on a striker, considering that will be the biggest amount spent and we are buying quality not quantity.

According to the article that I read the player was Mariappa and a couple more appearances would trigger a further payment to Reading plus a significant salary hike but just because I read it in the press doesn't mean it's true

Surely that was down to the administrators/owners at the time and CPFC2010 wouldn't be in for that kind of bullsh1t? It's not putting up with bulls***; it's just the way the market works.

I don't think its a case of 80k a week is to much, as we could afford it, it's a case of what would be the knock on effect of paying a player 80k a week with regards to the rest of the squad? If he comes in and bosses it up top, and is a class above the rest of the squad I don't think many will mind, but if he comes in and doesn't really perform then other players will be pissed off he's picking up double their wages. We really are stuck in a catch 22 situation, if we want to push forward as a club then remy & cabaye are the calibre of players we should be signing, if we want to tread water in mid table then let's bring in jordan Rhodes for 5m less and 30k a week less wages. If we could get rid of chamakh & campbell that would more or less cover remys wages on a weekly basis. On a final note...for years we have been bemoaning mid-table premier league clubs paying obscene wages & transfer fees to keep up with the jones & now it seems we are very close to joining that band of clubs. Quite ironic really, Edited by braunstoneagle (20 Jun 2015 10.30am)
