By my recollection, the "rivalry" with Brighton isn't of the common or garden football variety. It's not born out of proximity, nor out of decades of heated competition. It's purely the result of a series of random fixtures coughed up by the league's computer, and Brighton fans acting like total asshats at those fixtures.

I do not enjoy this "rivalry", I simply hate the fans. It's always seemed to me that they have latched onto us, because no one else gives a crap about them, and have managed to drag us into their stupid game. (See also Charlton).

If Brighton winked out of existence tomorrow, I believe that we will have forgotten about them by the end of the week (yes, I know tomorrow's Friday). If we had actually winked out of existence, as we so nearly did, I think they would still be hating Palace for years / decades to come because Brighton still would have no one who cared about them enough to fill the void in their black hearts.

So, no. I don't want them in or anywhere near the Premier League.

In my opinion that's absolute rubbish. However I'm only 27 and only been following palace 17 years which is next to nothing compared to other fans who post here. I wasn't around in the 70s when the rivalry started but for me Brighton is part of our identity. It'll be the first fixtures I look for next year if they come up.

I couldn't give a nuts about Brighton, or any other side other than Palace. Cannot understand why so many are wasting energy in 'hating' them. What I do know is it's another full house local derby for Palace. More money in the coffers. No need for an overnight stop or hefty hotel bills for our team. Play the game, home for MOTD. Unfortunately Fulham have dropped out and need replacing. If not Blighton then QPArse. We need to view fans from other clubs as walking wallets. Local derbies usually produce many of them. Fcuk them, think of Palace first.

The media fawning that the Brighton luvvies wd receive wd be off the chart in the premiership. How many times wd the bbc do w***y little shorts down by the pier and in the lanes. Grim. I wish nothing but failure on them.
