Syd, it seems you agree that the present owners have done a good job, but that you just don't like Steve Parish. Reading between the lines (particularly in light of you mentioning you also run a marketing agency, your car is cooler than his and that he probably has more business nous than you as his marketing agency was more successful) I would say that you may be suffering from a touch of envy, which is clouding your judgement. I'll never hero worship these owners or any others as it just isn't in me to do so, but I for one am over the moon that our club has had such a remarkable turnaround in fortunes, and they have to get a decent amount of credit for that (and yes I agree that our promotion was a stroke of luck rather than something born out of supreme planning). The second misinterpretation from the second post who said anything about hero worship? That's you throwing that in I never said that and seeing as you quoted my post I presume you meant me? Another point how do I know they have an excellent ability to negotiate? Right there are a few reasons number 1 they managed to buy the ground when buying the club which was initially a major no go to buying the club. I have edited your quote for brevity but the two comments that I would make are firstly - it wasn't me that talked about hero worship as you have quoted two posts together and secondly the purchase of the freehold was probably down to luck as the owners didn't want to sell but fortunately (for us) they went bust at the same time as we did and their Administrators were willing to sell. Similarly with the training ground as that came up for auction last year and our bid was the highest Ok yes I should of been more clear I did quote two posts in one, my apologies for being unclear. As for the second point it matters not about the circumstances how they were acquired also if they had a bit of luck they still had to get in the position of demanding the ground as part of the package to get the luck they needed and the fact remains they had to negotiate still to acquire them and the fact the board have managed to get them all together under one owner shows they do have some nous and ability to negotiate, I am not suggesting they are superior to everybody in the planet at negotiating but merely they are accomplished negotiators and it's one of their strongest points to how they run the club. Of course they have faults we all do but I do think credit should be given where it's due.

Perhaps we should install you as chairman as you have a vast knowledge of every subject (thank goodness for google eh Why is it that when anyone makes a cogent, rationally argued point that does not toe the popular line, they are denigrated? Surely Ian has the right to ask pertinent questions about the performance of the owners without it being concluded that he should be made chairman himself? If you go into hospital and a surgeon botches your operation and you criticise his surgical record, is "why don't we let you do the operation yourself?" a sensible response? Only an idiot would say that. In a democracy or any kind of open forum, it's absolutely critical to the health of an organisation that someone asks difficult questions in a sensible way, as Ian has done. This doesn't make him a CEO, but it does make his posts far more worth reading than snipey rubbish like the above. No one has to agree with him but at least offer sensible replies otherwise what's the point of the board?

I think that (as with most things in life) its not what you say....but how you say it. Not on this forum as anyone who has an alternative point of view to the mainstream is derided and insulted with the same people who seem incapable of having a rational discussion being the main culprits
