This post has been merged from a topic called 'Ashleigh Cole' by Moose It will not have been a coincidence but I do recall hearing this one time Palace loanee saying he would go back to Palace before his career ends.

All words that immediately come to mind? Exactly. He's not going to be coming to Palace. One last big pay day for Cashley before he retires.

It would make considerable sense for Cole to play a season at Palace before 'retiring to the USA. I bet he'd love to keep playing in the prem and Palace is a preferred option for him. As for wages, he's made his money and a game to game contract sounds attractive. It would give Cole a chance to edge out of the prem if it really gets too much. Palace have lots to offer.

Who's he going to play for in the USA? My guess is that he'll play at least another season in Europe, then head stateside when you'll have 3 NEW teams to choose from Orlando, Beckham's Miami or NYC.

Would still be one of the top three left backs in the premier league if he signed. This World Cup was evidence enough. Baines looked shocking but that is because England have been spoilt by having ashley Cole. Contrary to popular opinion he is a decent bloke too. Real Madrid and Barca are considering making a move for him so I am not sure palace is really on his mind. As much as we were all buzzing at what he said when interviewed regarding ending his career at palace, it is important to remember that the interview was conducted on ESPN by Rebecca Lowe, a palace fan. A lot of what he said was tongue in cheek. We can all dream though! Edited by laddo (04 Jul 2014 2.38pm)

USA. Monaco, Real.....no it's all too complicated. He wants to have just a little bit more time in the prem. It's Palace.

He's going to Rome. Don't blame him either. Given that he's already got the money and medals, can't think a better place to live. In his position, that's exactly the decision I'd make.

Yep, I can see him doing a lifestyle move as well. If I was a player I'd choose city over trophies all day long. Monaco, Barcelona and a nice little stint in New York towards the end of my career living in a warehouse conversion in Brooklyn.
