The nerves pre kick off in the Sainsbury's End. Remember the balloons and flags? If you look to the left of the advertisement hoarding, you can see the ITV camera that picked up a great view of Madden's equaliser. Attachment: h b'burn 3-0 3.6.89.jpg (180.23Kb)

First half and a Blackburn player is down - Howard Gayle is it?. Basically the same posture he probably adopted at full time. Attachment: h b'burn 3-0 ll.jpg (231.69Kb)

A Suckling goal kick. It was a rare sight throuhout the 80's to see the Holmesdale so rammed pack. You knew it was either a very special game for us or that Chelsea or Pompey had come to town! Attachment: h b'burn 3-0 lll.jpg (178.61Kb)

The 'Sainsbury's massive' get ready to celebrate. To the very right of the picture another young Palace fan jumps the barriers - either that or he's holding onto one too many of those hydrogen balloons they gave us before kick off. Probably the best Selhurst celebartion pitch invasion wouldn't you say? The TV shot of the end of the game with Wright and Bright finding each other as the fans swarmed in was like a scene out of a film. Attachment: h b'burn 3-0 v.jpg (230.22Kb)

The celebartions focus on the directors box where the players finally emerged. By George! Is that a young female Palace fan completely starkers to the right??? Don't worry - looks like her modesty is kept in tact by what looks like a late 70's Palace scarf - phew! Not sure if anyone remembers Coppell's speech after the game, but one line that sticks out was when he said: "I told the players before extra time: if you ever feel so tired that you think you can't go on, take a look of those fans and that'll keep you f**king going!!" Followed by an apologetic hand to the mouth. Blimey, managers that swear and blow up dolls: we were hard core in the 80's! Attachment: h b'burn 3-0 vi.jpg (249.38Kb)

Was just looking again at Bubbs' brilliant random 80s pics on the home page and I was struck by this one. Was wondering what Wright was looking at. The defender's looking over at the corner taker and covering his eyes to shield them from the sun. But the sun's behind him! Attachment: 15258.jpg (61.22Kb)
