I've got to say that I'm shocked by the vehement prejudice being shown to travellers by posts on the Charlton match. Have a go at Charlton thugs, sure ... and at the Palace thugs who attacked a Turkish restaurant in Croydon not so long ago ... but have you got some secret radar that tells you that the guy in the boots is a traveller? Have you any idea how low the probability is of a Charlton fan being a traveller?

And so what anyway? Would you throw the same abuse at "pakkies", "******s" or "paddies". If so, I'd say get off this site and out of Selhurst. If not, what's the difference? This is just another ignorant prejudice.

One of the reasons I support Palace - and take my son along - is cos it's a relaxed and mixed crowd, and cos I've not seen any racism shown to players. Racism is racism, whether it's to Asians, Afro-carribeans or travellers.

Gary, you really are too serious for this site. I'm sure The Guardian has a nice inter-active site for it's PC readership - suggest you try that.

For the record, in my 3 years of subscribing to HOL I've seen no evidence of racisim.

Travellers/Pikeys call them what you will choose to live outside of normal society. They make zero contribution. Maybe you will think again if you had an encampment on your doorstep.
