I cannot find a thread on this, but think his recent interventions and comments could result in quite profound outcomes. Suggesting that the situation in the UK could result in civil war is badly misinformed, extremely impertinent and dangerous. He seems determined to get involved in politics and is using his own platform to do it. He has severely restricted moderation and restored previously the accounts of controversial people, who remain banned elsewhere. Including Trump and Yaxley-Lennon. When the spread of disinformation and misinformation is known to have been the precursor for the rioting and the owner of the biggest platform is himself complicit in that spreading it seems to me that it hastens the day when restraining measures will be implemented. The howls of protest will surely follow but our governments have an over-riding responsibility to keep the people safe from harm that trumps any concerns over free speech. Concerns that are false anyway because speech is already restricted to a degree and to tighten it up so new threats are addressed is both necessary and sensible. The problem is how to do it. If platforms refuse to moderate themselves then those platforms will need to be moderated and access to markets removed. If enough countries did that then it could be the end of X. Musk has always seemed to have a suicide wish over it anyway. For someone as successful as he is he does appear to be very stupid sometimes. It won’t be easy because of his other interests and his litigious nature, but it needs to be done. The best outcome might be to force him to sell X so a new owner can restore control.

the IQ of Elon Musk is off the richter scale. So i would always sit up and listen to him. And in this instance, i find it difficult to see the alternative outcomes ? The Chaudary lot, the Lefty lot, and the Tommy Robinson lot all sitting down together ? for a happy picnic. Exchanging jokes and anecdotes. Both Starmer and Elon have poured petrol on the flames. And considering all the stabby violence, the flames were already pretty high.
Are we now Spain in 1935 ? Wherein the two sides have emerged from the shadows ? i fear so. I hope not. But if so, its what seems to happen to all great empires eventually. Rome, Spain, etc. The high point of the British Empire was about 1840. The Workshop of the World. And downhill ever since. A sharp fall with Suez in 1956. And downhill ever since. i would listen to Elon as he is certainly no intellectual slouch. Edited by PalazioVecchio (07 Aug 2024 11.59am)

I’ve literally just binned Twitter or X this week. It’s a jumbled up mish mash of a cesspit now. Any decent palace fans who I followed on there for a bit of banter and nostalgia get swallowed up in all the depressing bollocks like fans arguing the toss over every little thing about the club. Good riddance

There won’t be a war. That’s silly talk. Even if you believe any of those involved have any legitimate reasons for protesting which are more important than others suffering in a cost of living crisis, there’s far, far too few of them to do anything other than cause a nuisance. So Musk is just speaking from ignorance. He has no personal experience at all and is just theorising based on perceptions gained from reports. Probably on his own platform. So what can be done about him?

Good riddance Agree - he's absolutely ruined what was a good platform. The 'For You' section which is a never-ending feed of content from accounts that you don't follow is an absolute shambles. It's a real weird journey he's undergone Elon - but then he's a very weird bloke.

we seem to already be in WWIII. Ukraine, Israel/Palestine. With new players taking sides every month. Iran ? Taiwan ? Cuba ?
Millions of migrant men, wandering North West from say, Syria & Tunisia.....its all part of Putin's Plan. As they start filling up the British Isles, the social & economic pressure gets to bursting point. What i cannot understand is how countries receiving all these men are generously paying for the madness ?

You get that in the section of people you follow as well, I was seeing so much from people I don’t follow it’s unreal, usually just because someone I do follow had replied to someone I don’t Also I’d blocked so many over aggressive with their views or relentlessly boring palace fans, some of the conversations were a mess and didn’t make sense because I couldn’t see what a lot of people were saying, but that’s down to me I suppose for binning so many people off

It was a leftist cesspit, and now Musk is cleaning up and redressing the balance.

The platform previously meant that anyone could interact with anyone, now only paid members have that privilege. You are expose to a mountain of ads which was also not the case previously. Previously, your news feed was almost entirely made up of posts from the page you'd decided to follow - it's now littered with content from pages you have not followed, but the algorithm has decided you might want to watch. Objectively, it's a much worst platform now than it was. Pretty much anyone who uses it would agree.
