How do people think this situation is going to proceed?

It feels very much like we are in the year before the Iraq war where the US press were full of stories preparing people for war with Iraq......No one ever suffered a consequence for that by the way...all memory holed because essentially the stories were all fed to that media by their state security and intelligence services.

But to be honest I'm not really seeing how Israel or America proceed successfully against Iran.

They can't invade it....they would need a massive land invasion and quite frankly outside of their elite units, due to several reasons, the US army is a shadow of the one which was sent to Iraq.....and obviously the US public just wouldn't accept losing troops.

So you're talking about bombing Iran.....which isn't going to do much other than increase tensions. Militarily you'd have to nuke Iran and quite obviously that would be beyond inhuman.

Maybe the plan is....bomb Iran conventionally, which will finally get Hezbollah to invade or they invade Lebanon with massive American aerial involvement (they can't beat them on their own without it being existential) Would it get to American troops going to Israel/Lebanon fighting and effectively Israel taking Lebanon again and allowing them to finish off in Gaza?

But even as I type that it seems wildly unrealistic. To be honest it's hard to work out what the thinking is.

I would guess that America wil use Israel to do any attacking against Iran and supply them with weapons.

America could destroy the infastructure of Iran in a few days. I doubt they will want to be directly involved but I'd rule nothing out.
Iran has been in America's sights since the hostage crisis.

Nukes wil never be used by the West unless we are losing a global conflict.

All a nightmare really. The US & Israel seem to have already united the entire muslim World against them. Biden has been a disaster compared to Trump.

Trump did a good deal with Morocco to recognise Israel. And generally Trump preferred carrot to stick.

Saudi is the puppet State of the yanks. And hence its legendary brutality and hardline religion mask. Iran hates Saudi and would love to topple it. The Arab Spring has show all of the frailties within any State.

the favoured weapon of little countries ? terrorism.

can the US survive a few more 9/11's ? maybe, but its will to fight may diminish.

Iran seem much harder to take on than Iraq. They've also learnt from everything that has happened previously so have air defences and secret bunkers etc. They have a huge army - which although rubbish - I doubt we have even the ammunition to deal with.
Also, and I think this is the big point. US attacks thinking that the people protesting against their government will be on their side. They won't. They'll all turn radical in general as people of their religion have a propensity to do. So even if the impossible happens and the US and Israel win - then it's ongoing guerilla war forever. Regime change/ ISIS - we've seen it all before.
And the terror attacks - expect about 50 9/11s. No doubt there will be a huge wave of mental health knife/sword attacks coming anyway - but this will dwarf that.
And lo and behold loads more refugees that we will welcome with open arms. The Ayatollah next door - will he be better or worse than the current 40 fake Sudanese who are obviously Nigerian fraudsters? Make your own mind up on that one.

Yeah, but if America bomb Iran, they can only destroy the above ground infrastructure and Iran have quite a lot of their important stuff under mountains (as does the US).

Russia are now involved in Iran, with one of their former generals over there as we speak, and no doubt they are giving them missile technologies.

I'm sure the industrial military complex would be rubbing their hands at the prospect of producing all they need.

Yep, from the American/Israel perspective a regime change is by far the most effective route.....but Iran's leaders aren't stupid and have the education, media and election system on lockdown there.

The Saudis are moving towards BRICS and if anything will play both sides like Turkey and India...their 50 year agreement on the petrodollar ended...By playing both sides they take less risks, which is what Ukraine should have done.

It could be the beginning of the end, depending of the quality of Iran's artillery, anything approaching a nuclear attack and the domino effect will start, just as we are getting a decent side too, bugger

I would imagine that Iranian resistance would come down to the will to fight.
Iran is ruled by a small group that dominates a much larger group of moderate, often Western friendly people. Cut off the head, no pun intended, and the country would fall.

I expect we could take out their defensive capabilities around populated areas and eliminate any offensive weapons.

Russia know that direct involvement would spell disaster so I wouldn't expect them to do any more than supply some weapons.
Given that they can't even defeat Ukraine, I wouldn't be too concerned about their ability to do so. China might be more of a problem, however.

Is there a large population in Iran prepared to fight in the interests of America or Israel?.....I don't know.

They are certainly concerned about their economy and don't like their leaders.

From the Israel/American side that would certainly be their best outcome.
