Quoted on the BBC as saying he is voting for Labour.
Well - jolly good chap for doing so.
He is a total hypocrite though as he is a Monaco resident, doesn't pay barely any tax in the UK by comparison to his wealth - he pays less tax than the Beckhams allegedly - and posted a month ago that VAT on school fees just won't work.
What a complete t*** the man is regardless of his charitable works!
Easy to vote labour when their taxes won't affect him.

Another bellend.

Labour complaining about the tax burden and then saying they will increase it.

There is a risk that they will increase inheritance tax. That would be shameful.
People wanting to leave money to their kids. Generational wealth.
Something that really matters.

Taxing people's life savings?

People need to think very carefully before they vote for these scumbag lying Labour t***s.

Both of those would be despicable.
Starmer doesn't class savers as working people - this from the man who has just worked out that a woman doesn't have a p**** - god help us!

Although I don't believe the Tories (who I USED to vote for) deserve to be in power any more, I do really fear for us all with this shower of sh1te coming to power!!

They have ducked every question to do with taxes and Starmer flip-flops with his answers on everything else.

What with changing the voting age to 16 we are gonna be stuck with them for a long time.
The one positive is that a lot of people have had enough of both parties and this may lead to more marches/demonstrations etc.

How refreshing it would be to have a march about something going on here.
We might even get 10% the turnout of the muslim marches in central London for something going on the other side of the world.

Savings (income and capital gains) and inheritance are taxed now; it's all a question of rates and thresholds. However, such taxes rely heavily on self-declaration and are extremely easy to 'avoid'. The notion of some kind of tax on 'wealth' should be taken with a pinch of salt. Numerous experts have concluded that building a mechanism to do this ie by recording everyone's wealth and then taxing it in some way, would be a task so monumental as to be infeasible.

I dont know why people are so surprised and disgusted, certain people and organisations like to be linked with winners, Whether it is Mr Cauldwell, Theo Paphitis, The boss of Iceland (cant remember his name, then you watch how the papers will Change with endorsements , The Sun, The I, The guardian will all Back Labour , The Mail and Times will splinter their bums on the fence leaving only the Torygraph and Express to back the tories (although i dont know anybody who reads those anyway)

Taxes will increase whoever gets in. The state of the economy demands that. The only question is on whom the biggest burden will fall.

Nobody wants that to be them, but some accept it must be. Me included.

Taxes don't have to go up. Cut government spending and reduce taxation.

It is part of the concept of backing the (obviously) winning horse and expecting the same quid pro quo they get from the Tories.

However, it may also be a genuine fear of the Tories lurching to the right, with all the accompanying exponential decline in quality of governance that will bring. What business likes is competence and certainty and it speaks of the shambles the Tories are in that business currently favours Labour.

I think you need to understand the facts.

There is already inheritance tax at 40%. I have just paid over £100k when my dad died and we are not a wealthy family.

I also pay tax on my savings - as a lower rate tax payer i am now paying 20% on the interest over £1k.

I am of medium income and savings and have never paid a penny in Capital gains tax, and unless you have more than 1 property i suspect nor have 99% of the public (the working people).
The CGT rates are very low - the max is 20% (property is 24%) so this seems an obvious one to increase.

In terms of the Tories and tax don't get confused by the smoke and mirrors.

The income tax threshold have been frozen for a number of years now so this is a tax increase EVERY year.
CGT has a tax free limit - was £12k, then £6k and now £3k so the Tories are increasing this.
Similarly VAT - i remember when i was a kid it was 8% - now 20%

Unfortunately if you want a free and effective NHS, a care system that works for our ageing population and support for people with educational needs and/or physical disabilities it needs to be paid for. That's before the govt pay for pensions and defence, both of which are massive costs.

We also have govt borrowing of almost 100% of our annual GDP - that's over £2,500bn a year. We pay interest on that so that's over £100bn a year (which Sunak didn't lock in at low interest rates when in No 11 BTW). When one party moans that say there is a £20bn overspend in a manifesto it is in the grand scheme of things less than 1% of our overall annual GDP.

So every party will have it's hands tied regardless of who is in power
