I'm not sure we would need or want him but...
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. Archie Griffen |

Don't necessarily want to close down possibilities, but I struggle to think of anyone that's come to us from Arsenal, on loan or perm, that has worked out well for us...and I can think of many who haven't. There was Paul Barron and Clive Allen in the early 80s, but didn't we have to give up Kenny in return?

Tommy Black and Julian Gray were decent, but Paul Barron made Hennessey look nimble and as well as Barron and Clive Allen we had the pleasure of David Price back then as well who was awful Edited by monkey (04 May 2024 8.49am)

I read the linked article with interest until I got to the bit about Arsenal wanting £30 million.

The only good transfer dealings that I can remember us coming out on top with Arsenal is when they offered us instalments for Wilf & then bought Pepe for 72 million instead.

He had a great loan spell with us and we even tried to buy him but Wenger was no idiot. Cole went straight back into the Arsenal team and shortly afterwards the England team.

I think we offered a million for him and we were skint, shows how desperate we were to keep him

He wasn't instrumental but did prove to be a rather astute aquisition, Mathieu Flamini, though I'd wager many Palace fans have forgotten he ever starred for us. But yes, besides that...
