Its appears they have written to the EPL because their fans won't be able to travel back to Manchester after our game with them on Bank Holiday Monday. Now, don't get me wrong, but, i always thought their fans lived in London, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire & Asia, so, why are they upset about travel? . . . [Link]

Someone needs to tell them down south we have things called hotels, they’re very popular

I was pi55ed off at the change, but now I know it’s upset United fans I feel a lot better about it

Although I'm not shedding any tears for United fans, I do think this again raises the whole issue of the complete and utter disregard shown toward the fans that actually attend games.

I know the sale of TV rights brings huge amounts of money into the game but it is the supporters who make the atmosphere at the games
( remember the echoing emptiness of the Covid season?) and it is a slap in the face to those who are prepared to travel a long distance to follow their club who then find that a game originally scheduled for a Saturday or Sunday ends up on a Monday night.

I don't know what the solution is but I do wonder if there is any way that this occurrence could be minimised when the schedule for games to be televised is being planned? I know the answer is probably NO as the PL wants to maximise the income from TV which in turn means bowing to SKY and Co's every whim.

Indeed. When Sky first planned a Sports channel it was unofficially known as the Man United Channel (SS1).

They have probably been on TV more than any other club.

And they know it. Hence their willingness to provide coaches for their Northern fans.

They are undoubtedly the most highly supported team in the world. Sadly I have to admit without them the premier league may not be where it is as quickly as it got there. That is the reality of united.

I have no problem with Man Utd fans being upset & for sure this is all about the TV people telling clubs when the game has to be played - no doubt we have experienced similar.

When you look at the fixtures on the Sunday 5th May you can see Chelsea playing WH, wouldn't it have made more sense to have us playing Man Utd on the Sunday & them playing each other on a Monday night ?

At least its a local match for both sets of supporters.
