I think now he has managed a number of games i've got to say i think we have secured a really good manager. He is clearly only interested in the "team" as was evident when he was asked about Mateta's performance against City choosing to side step the question ( which would have been an easy one to deal with given Mateta had a great game ) to focus on what the team contributed. I've also found his insights thoughtful when discussing the games. His English is excellent and he is clear and easy to understand. In general we have been all the games we have played since he took over despite having to deal with various injuries. I am confident we will pick up points to survive despite our difficult run in.

As I posted before, I can see why he would have preferred to take the job this summer rather than towards the end of what has been a difficult season at Palace.

Results wise I would say I'm disappointed so far although in mitigation he hasn't taken over in ideal circumstances. Performance wise I see an improvement that hasn't been translated into points.

At the moment, just my opinion, but to survive in the Premier League this season is paramount - even finishing 17th if that's what it is.

Then Glasner has the summer and a pre season to start to do the job properly.

That would be my main observation too - the decent performances haven't turned into results and it's a results business.
Glasner has mentioned the need to be more efficient in both boxes, but I recall Vieira making similar noises.
It's early days and I like his approach, but believe there will have to be changes made in personnel to deliver his aims.
The question is whether the club will be on board to deliver those changes.

I concur with these sentiments.

Perhaps but having a run of game before the summer will at least give him an idea about which players suit his system and which don't. For example, before he arrived many people would have said keep Eze at any costs and let Mateta go. Based on their performances so far, feel like both those opinions may have shifted.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

My understanding is that Glasner has been closely following Palace's matches this season so that he would have an indication of just that.

However, given the resources at his disposal, he hasn't had too much choice over selecting players that may not fit his system - Eze being a prime example.

But you stick the injured players back in and, from a first 11 perspective, are we only crying out for a LWB?

This is exactly what I am hoping.

All hinges on us staying up of course, which hopefully we do, however it can only stand to put Glasner in a better position with regards to any summer transition and changes that may be on the cards.

I've given up complaining about this season, long looked set for a write off. As NEILLO stated, 17th would be absolutely fine by me (as long as points deductions aren't an issue post season). I'll then very much hope we recalibrate and look forward to hopefully a 'Glasner' season next year, which could well be a very good/exciting one.

I don't think there's enough running power, energy and drive in the squad.
For example we're crying out for a left sided forward of power and pace to threaten the opposition.
We lack athleticism in midfield missing a player(s) that can cover every blade of grass over 90 plus minutes.
We can't sustain intensity over whole games which Glasner's current formation requires.
Glasner's system of 2 in central midfield places huge demands on the central midfielders.
Of course if the system is tweaked to something like 4231, the situation changes, but we will have to see.

Hardly the same as knee deep at the coal face. If we survive, this forced change may turn out to be a blessing given the insight he will receive and getting the crud out the way.

And I still think one major change he will introduce will be an increase in sport psychology work. I don't think he is happy with players going in to seek the pragmatic draw. Apparently that can result in conceding a lot of late goals.

I think it’s more about the stable players - Guehi, Docuoure not being available.
Lerma then gets moved which takes out another ball winner.

Eze is a great player. But he needs players around him to do the dirty work, then a partner in crime on the same wavelength. Ayew is functional but doesn’t think the same way as Olise.

At the moment we are more functional rather than flair, but some of the functional bits are not what we would call first choice!

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I am hoping that conversation was had before he took the job. I think he will have known he cannot progress the club with the current squad. Yes, we can put out a very competitive first 11 when everyone is fit. However, based on this season, that may not be very often.

I would like to think that part of his appointment included some guarantees on recruitment over the summer. I don't know but bet he has an "opt out" clause if we were to be relegated. Hopefully, that won't be needed!

For a lot of the reasons stated already, I have been impressed with him. Once again, let's just get through this season intact and really judge him 10 or 12 games into next season.
