Ireland is ruled by the EU. Was he pushed to make way for someone worse? A general election should be called.

Scandal in the offing no doubt. eh, Leo Far-Lefter has had a scandal approximately every week. Sometimes twice a week. Possibly the most hated Taoiseach in living memory. - snogging the head off some random bloke in a nighclub, not his husband. - standing shirtless in the Park, drinking beer.....when the Covid Lockdown was so strict the rest of us got in trouble for watering the roses in the front garden. - giving council housing to people only landed into the country in the last 5 minutes. - being a total C-unit to NI , the Orangemen and the Brexit border. - building a childrens hospital.....still uncompleted....which will probably end up as the most expensive building ever built ...in all of history, barring Kufu's Pyramid ( possibly ). and loads of other gaffs.
Another Varadkar on the way, no doubt. the T0sser is resigned, longlive the T0sser.

Another Varadkar on the way, no doubt. the T0sser is resigned, longlive the T0sser. All of which makes his resignation even more surprising. Because if there is a scandal possibly about to break then it must be beyond horrendous because the man seems to have been like teflon so far with all kinds of crap that would have finished other politicians careers never seemingly touching him. Makes me wonder what might have gone down during his recent visit to the US? Whether he was given the heads up on something? Also the visuals of today were very interesting. Making the announcement surrounded by others, the BBC's fawning coverage etc . Mhm. Be interesting to see how this thread develops as things become clearer.

A buoyant interesting politician on balance I think he has done his country a lot of good. He handled Brexit very well for Ireland. From his meeting with Biden yesterday he was able to punch his weight over his countries position on Gaza. Something the UK could never do.

They had a meltdown when Jacinda Arden resigned.

The history of Irish politics glosses over all of the blatant corruption - particularly for the uninitiated. I'm struggling to think of any Taoiseach that wasn't overtly corrupt. Bertie Ahern was Harry Redknapp's role model. Poor soul didn't have a bank account - in this country anyway. Charles Haughey - our own General Pinochet. De Valera and the Irish News - plus plenty of guest appearances. De Valera probably wins it as loads still think he did them a favour when they bought his shares that were worth precisely zero. They keep them framed on the wall. Needed a dig out. Our President who lives up the road from me in a multi million pound house, told us he wasn't a millionaire recently enough. But in fairness, he's not actually corrupt more just an expensive ornament. As for the USA caring what Ireland says - ok. We have around the international power of the Isle of Man but without their armed forces. We had one ship patrolling our entire coast last week. It was in the St Patrick's parade - so then there were none. Not like we're an island or anything.

American politicians only give a shyte about Ireland cos of the tens of millions of voters in their own country who own a Sinead O'Connor album. - and came up with an ancestry DNA result of 3% irish. the irony being, the maddest IRA-heads live in America and fancy themselves as Brad Pitt. The real irish are embarrassed by all that balaclava bombing 'RA shyte. We have moved on since the 1970s. Biden was seeking votes in the US by visiting ireland and almost singing 'ooh aaah up da Ra'....if he could remember the words. It inflamed about a million Orangemen and probably did a lot of damage. Varadkar was an embarrassment for multiple other reasons. For a qualified medical doctor, he came across as really low IQ....and then he himself cracked jokes about people with learning disabilities......classy. Every time Varadkar was on camera he seemed to be picking his nose. Merkel & Varadkar and a ton of other globalists always seem to have no kids. And then they tell the rest of us to worry about the future. Ireland & the US....same as israel. Domestic US voters cast a long shadow.

Charles Haughey.....a knacker from a council estate in Donneycarney. ended up living in an ascendancy mansion in a few hundred acres, owning race-horses, fine art, helicopters and even a little private island. He broadcast the nation that we were ''all living beyond our means''and we need to tighten our belt. Then he jetted off to buy shirts on the Champs Elysee for 300 quid a pop. Very many of the London Irish around Croydon despise Ireland's corrupt Latin-american politics.
