What's our best 11 to field if all was fit to play? My choice would be... Richards---Andersen---Guehi
Doucoure----Wharton

That would be my choice of our current squad as well even though it leaves Ayew on the bench! Edited by doombear (27 Feb 2024 6.50pm)

That’s about right, apart from I don’t think Wardy deserves to be dropped since we’ve gone three at the back, but neither does Richards I suppose

Not a fan of the system personally...negates the strengths of our best player (Eze imo). I believe you build around your best. Therefore I'd revert to more of a 4-3-3. Johnstone Munoz - Andersen - Guehi - Mitchell Doucoure - Wharton Eze Olise - Mateta - Ayew. Harsh on Lerma. But good to have options.

I think the surprise over the coming games will be Franca...think he could be a permanent fixture over the next few weeks...will only get better...

I think that's pretty solid. Like for like replacements shows that we're a little light on defensive cover, however. where as outside of defense, we're doing OK; Interesting/Worrying that the squad listing on cpfc shows included youngsters in attacking areas, but none in defensive ones.

I would say it's exactly this although, just for the purpose of pedantry, I would suggest the front three look a bit more like: Olise-----Eze
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

When alls fit, the team looks pretty impressive. I'd opt for the follwing as an attacking line up vs lower end of the table teams: Doucoure, Eze, Wharton Against the better teams: Sam.J Edited by CpfcWeTrust1 (28 Feb 2024 11.10am)

More worried about what it would mean for Olise who is obviously a wide player but it seems that we're now relying on the wing backs for the width.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

That would leave Ayew out in the cold unless Glasner converts him into a LWB to challenge/in place of, Mitchell Edited by doombear (28 Feb 2024 12.25pm)

It's difficult to leave Ayew out these days. Based on recent history, playing Olise for 90 minutes every week might be a mistake. The guy is very talented, but he is made of glass.
