It's important in life to admit when you're wrong. But he's been top draw recently. His link up play, the way he holds the ball up..his work rate...and he's shown he can finish too. Not sure he's the long term answer to our striker problem...but he's making a bloody good fist of it right now. Kudos JPM. I eat my words.

His work rate, hold up play and link up play has improved enormously. He deserved his place in the team. Hopefully Glasner can find a way to get more players feeding off of him in attack

Three times the player who started the season. I used to roll my eyes to the heavens whenever he came on. Not now.

To me it's noticeable that when he tires we lose a lot of cohesion in our play, such is his ability to hold the ball up in attacking areas and bring others into the game. Could do with some better service in front of goal but I'm mindful we're missing our best crosser in Olise.

His first touch seems so much better (most of the time) and his work rate has definitely improved, fair play to him tonight. Played a big part in our goal too. Just a shame he couldn’t release Ayew? when we won back possession at 1-0 up. Our attacker would've been clean through and 2-0 would have sealed it for us the way Everton were playing.

To be fair to him, he's really improved. And has understood, and seams to be relishing, what we need of him. He wins more than his fair share of hte battles, and his link play is pretty decent at times

Having said that it's clear that he's also improved significantly in both his hold-up and his link-up play, both of which were highlighted in his assist for the goal last night. I'm not sure he would have shown this improvement had he been given a decent run of games in previous seasons but we'll never know.

I've always preferred him over Édouard yet always found the crowd to be very unforgiving to him in the sense that the slightest mistake would always get someone in the crowd screaming his name in exasperation even when it was often the result of a poor ball etc. Glad he has won some of his critics over.

Jean-Phillipe has improved immeasurably. He does however need to work on his stamina/game management. He seems to run out of steam after about 65 minutes.

We've seen him improve in leaps and bounds this season.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
