Spun his last vinyl on life's turntable. Damn good DJ, ahead of his time, used to love listening to him when Radio 1 was relevant, as well as TOTP's

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Loved his shows.

Who doesn't like a factoid, some great characters Mr Angry from Purley should have announced his sad passing.

Once he went from his radio 2 afternoon slot I stopped listening.

Shocking news - listened to his show last Sunday and although a pre-recorded Valentines special, he was his usual chirpy self.

He could be very sarcastic, but nevertheless a true professional going back to the days when they played vinyl on air. A proper disc jockey.

Very sad. RIP.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

He was the builder's DJ.

How many of us had workmen in our home and enjoyed listening to him on their paint-splattered radios.

RIP Steve Wright in the afternoon.

Red and Blue Army!

A genuine titan of UK broadcasting. Changed the landscape of radio here in the 1980's with the zoo format he got going at Radio 1.

The first time I ever heard names, like Letterman, Jay Leno, Saturday Night Live, Howard Stern and more was on Steve Wright's Show, pre-internet.

For me, he was best when working on Radio 1 with a team of writers and performers doing the characters and mixing that with celebrity interviews. It was like Spitting Image for the radio back before he left R1 in 1996. At Radio 2 he got too schmaltzy and sometimes cheesy with the output but still engaged with the listener like few others.

I do some community radio and having to fill for 5 minutes when you don't have a lot of listener content can feel like a real marathon. No wonder the 'love the show' letters were woven in to his show to make it seem he was an old pal talking to you.

On the grapevine, I had heard he was quite eccentric at times but a brilliant artist of radio in an era when any 2-bit actor or pop star is given their own prime breakfast show.
