I think we have to accept that, Sadly Michael Olise has played his last game for us, Thanks Roy, when his release clause is activated on July 1st he will leave, but only if he is fit, the worst scenario is he is injured again before he leaves, not going to be match fit for us this season.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

It would all depend on his valuation and proof of lasting fitness.

IMO if he doesn't get back on the pitch for us this season, I cant see that £50m clause getting triggered. When fit and firing, we've got a £50-80m player on our hands. But the fact that a usually ever present player has seemingly had a a recurrent hamstring injury would be a concern.

cant see anyone spendng 50+ on an injury prone player. I reckon we get one more season out of him.

He hasn't played his last game for us, prognosis is a couple of months isn't it? Don't play our last game until May 19th. Plus we know Roy will rush him back as early as possible. I reckon he's back for Bournemouth on the 2nd of April. Don't reckon this puts other clubs off though, would have thought clubs with a sensible manager and functioning medical department would fancy their chance of not breaking him.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

Seems very unfair to me for people to keep blaming Roy for bringing Olise on against Brighton. The player was deemed fit by the medical staff, otherwise he wouldn't have been on the bench. As far as the manager was concerned, therefore, he was OK to play (and I suspect that if he hadn't brought him on, critics would have complained about his timid tactics) Edited by palaceexile (09 Feb 2024 9.41am)

Whilst what you say may seem fair, it still begs the question why bring him on when 3-0 down? Originally posted by palaceexile

This recent injury setback lands squarely at the feet of Hodgson. He claims he doesn't benefit from hindsight, when a bit of common sense would have been all that was required. Why risk your best player when you're 3-0 at halftime ? I doubt he was properly warmed up and he ends up sprinting for a loose ball that what was a lost cause and pulls up. If anything he should have been told to get showered at halftime and to forget about the 2nd half. I haven't read or heard one single Palace fan who thinks it was worth the risk.

Roy also did say that he could have gotten injured in trainning the the next day. which is true. Sure eze did his achilles in training. It can happen anywhere. I have rolled my ankle simply crossing the road.

It seems some people just want to blame Hodgson for everything. Wrong for bringing him on, but would have been wrong if he didn't. Especially once we had got it back to 1-3.

Being pedantic, we all benefit from hindsight. It's foresight we don't have.

His Release clause was quoted at 60m, and if he is fit on July 1st i can see 4 or 5 clubs willing to pay that.
