Pulis had stayed for a second season... I gotta admit, I loved him as our boss.. when he quit I was gutted, he really got those misfits playing. Those days seem a long, long time ago.

I think if he hadn't quit on the eve of a new season, a lot of our then players would have left. Pre season was not a happy one.

It’s a shame to have to say it, but apart from Pardews spell where he wanted to attack and get the creative players involved more, well Wilf, with the appointments of Warnick, Big Sam and Roy we’ve not moved on a massive amount have we? But if we’d stuck with De Bore or Pardew we could well be back in championship. I’m glad I just go to watch the football and I don’t have to make the decisions parish has to

I think that's the odd thing currently in that Parish tried to talk about 'top ten' whilst we for all the world haven't looked to have moved on beyond relegation battling football/managers and when we have tried to, became unstuck. They gave it a go with Pardew, FdB and PV however we've lacked the budget to really transition. Punching above our weight has become our identity so we almost look doomed to continue playing that way forever. Far bigger clubs then ours have gone down in our PL time however many have explored something we have not. It might well be a fact of life that we continue fighting to keep ourselves afloat in the moneybags PL or we roll the dice and accept relegation may be a higher risk if playing for a higher reward. Parish may well have got it wrong from time to time and I reserve the right to criticise/moan about individual decisions and what not but equally I'd rather not be the one making them thanks, what a nightmare that must be.

Especially in the modern day where everyone has an opinion, can rely on hindsight, can juggle reality & emotion at any given time without having had the real time / real world pressure of making those decisions & publish thoughts as facts on public message boards - add in a few beers on top & well you get the picture. Had Pulis remained we likely would have seen Peter Crouch up front. That would have been something, those long diagonal balls from Delaney straight into touch with Crouch hoping for a flick-on.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Yup, we looked consistent under him and I trusted his judgment.. trouble is, it appears he worked out parish and literally took the money and ran... I felt we needed, after Pulis, a manager to say something akin to "we are punching above our weight, but we're going to enjoy it!!' and just go with that mentality whilst behind the scenes that lovely prem money was being invested in the club, rather than a decade of it not being well spent.. let's be honest.

Dyche seems to be of a similar ilk to Pulis and at times he has been linked with Palace. He has done well at Everton given the mess they were in when he took over. I think it is a lot harder for managers these days to transform squads of player like they might have done in the past. Clubs these days have fitness coaches, physio's doctors analysists etc to get the most out of their players so the margins a new manager might influence things is much narrower than in the past.
