Serious question.

The set-up in the boardroom seems a little strange, but whether this has been to the detriment of the club or not, I don't know.

They've built a great academy and spent what little money we have on young potential while still trying to get the ground improved.

In the last couple of years we've made some great signings.

When I consider this against what I want owners to do, it seems pretty good.

Right now, I think they're showing too much faith in Roy, but that's a judgement call and I have no idea who would be available instead.

The only problem for me right now is that the football is terrible, the player selection is poor and the players are not improving. A good manager always improves whatever he has, see Howe and Emery in recent years. That sits squarely with the manager.

So my only real problem is that the owners are putting up with this terrible team performance. What am I missing?

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue
Yours sincerely
Mile Jedinak

No idea but I am seeing huge similarities between the fans protests / meltdown and that of other club fans protests / meltdown at clubs in the past that used to be premier league. It all ends the same way in relegation.

Exactly what I said to my boy earlier when he asked about the banner. They've done the academy, couple new players along with what we got in the summer and hopefully new stand starts at the end of the season. That's a lot of money. The only problem I have is the managerial appointments.
I think SP runs the club as a business brilliantly but his football knowledge might need to be questioned. I don't think he lacks ambition but his footballing decisions makes it seem like he does.

Money, two have it, but don't want to use it, Two want to, but don't want it

The summer recruitment was abysmal, management choice included. That is why we are where we are.

Surely he has 14 years of footballing decision knowledge experience in the industry by now? He doesn't seem to be learning by past mistakes?

Two major blunders in the summer:

1. Keeping Roy on was an easy and lazy option for which they are now paying the price.

2. The signings in the summer were completely random, another massive investment in a goalkeeper was not needed, similar big money spent on a kid for the future who doesn’t feature in the first team …and lastly another centre back just because he was available. Meanwhile the areas where cover was badly needed were ignored.

Unfortunately, the days of running any football club on very little investment/money went down the s*****r many years ago. The premier league is where you have to spend money if you don't want to stand still or, go backward. I was against giving Roy an extension on his contract. Also, when I said we needed investment and ambition, jeez I got some stick for saying it. It was only my opinion, I hope it aint now coming back to bite us squarely on the arse. Also before anyone says to me to f off and support another club, do you remember Monday the 5th of April 2010 when we the supporters put our money into our club to help, cos we were told they couldn't afford to pay our players, I hope my little bit helped then. I hope we can survive this lot now and stay up, even Parish has said in the past we need to progress, and we do.

Current situation smacks of disagreements in the boardroom.

Sort it out gents, and quickly.

Made a post before the season started saying the board needed to show intent, most posters on here jumped to their defence, I'd like to hear what they've got to say now, we've just spent 30 mill, when other posters said we had no money, that was before we spent 20 million on Henderson aswell, so 50 mill, I thought we had no money ? We've been abysmal in the transfer market and we kept Hodgson because the board couldn't be bothered finding a replacement. Still only one left back in our squad and 2 strikers after 10 years in the prem. Yes we could be a lot worse off but the club's strategy over the past few years has been terrible.

I’d love to know what the board thinking was in the summer. It seems clear that the long term strategy is to develop young talent either through the academy or bringing them in. In that context they have a director of football whose role is to ensure that development squads and transfer signings fit with the strategy. The coach’s job is usually linked to that approach and agreed at appointment. The Weed have the same strategy and de Servi has gone on record as saying he is following board instructions even though he has reservations about playing so many kids.

Then there’s Roy. Not keen to risk the youngsters even when it’s obvious his players are knackered or off form. He’s being allowed to do that even when it means millions of pounds worth of players sitting on the bench. The only rational explanation is that he and the board agreed he could do that on the assumption that the squad was good enough to stay in the league this season. and that he was appointed because they couldn’t attract the kind of coach their strategy required. With Eze and Olise playing as they did last season it might have been a safe bet but with their injuries it has backfired and could see us relegated. Roy can’t or won’t change his approach so the board can either hope we survive or bring in one of the available coaches who does for the model while they have the chance. I’m afraid it should be a no brainer.
