I remember having a 21st birthday party it was one of the most memorable birthdays of my life, didn't bother with 18th
Not had one since, notice they seem to have gone out of fashion now? Many people don't seem to have them much now a days?

Must be the company you keep......

Most of my friends still 'mark the occasion' for birthdays ending in 0 (and sometimes 5), with perhaps a bit bigger 'do' for 50th, and 70th or 80th - the latter ones being a bit less raucous than the earlier ones.....

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

i reckon our online-digital lifestyle is destroying community and the enthusiasm for lots of face-to-face events.

I agree, but who has time or the energy for loads of friends when you have a wife, kids and maybe grandchildren?

I'm not going to trawl up old friends I never see who now live miles away just for a 60th birthday party.

What is the point? I'd rather be with people I really care about.

Depends on whether they bring presents...

The last time I had a big birthday bash was my 21st in 1968. Drank rather too much, danced a lot to The Beatles Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da and dumped my girlfriend for a girl I invited from work who I drove home from Carshalton to Anerley. She's now my wife of 53 years.

I'm dreading the family planning something for my 80th in a couple of years time. I'm much happier at home with my favourite Bourbon.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I hired a canal boat complete with bar, buffet and music on the Birmingham canal for both my 60th and 65th birthdays and had a great time.
