Jordan Ayew scored twice (2 pens) for Ghana Last night. However their 2-2 draw with Mozambibique means they finish 3rd in their group and exit afcon. This means Jordan should be back with time to spare for the Sheffield United game. Who would have thought 2 or 3 years ago that that would be such a lift for the team and club? He really is now amongst the "first names on the teamsheet" group.

Not quite yet, they still could go thru as one of the 4 best 3rd places sides. There are 2 sides on 3 points, 3 sides on 2 points & 1 side on 1 point currently in 3rd place of their groups. We will know one way or another by Thurs eve when the final group matches have been played. Edited by eagleman13 (23 Jan 2024 8.20am)
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Ayew’s value to us is best demonstrated in his absence. Whilst we’ll always yearn for Wilf/Bolasie types and perhaps now appreciate the quality that Olise brings, without Jordan our forward line looks a very weak and baron wilderness. That’s a real reflection of Roy for me though, must be said. With the rest of the team drilled merely to stick to their positions, getting the ball up the pitch and into attacking positions has become something you need players with the individual capacity and inclination to do so, outside of attacking instruction. His return is most welcome for me.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Like the way he tucked in his two penalties with calmness and aplomb - would have been useful if we needed pens to win a cup match, next season!

I like him for the effort he puts in and the option he provides but he'll be 33 in September so how much longer he can play the way he does is open to question.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Jordon Ayew' by becky Inaki Williams, who was also part of the Ghana squad at Afcon, played for Athletico Bilbao in their 4-2 defeat of Barcelona in the Copa del Rey last night so on that basis Jordan Ayew should be available for us for the Sheffield United game, provided he hasn't got a knock of course.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Jordon Ayew' by becky I haven’t heard he’s injured unless he tries to swing an extra few days off in the sun. I’m sure he’s not like that though. We desperately need him for Tuesday’s game. Edited by XKudu (25 Jan 2024 1.13pm)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Jordon Ayew' by becky he has played 3 games in a week, the last of which was Monday, 22nd Jan, so is clearly fit. Give him a few days off to recover and travel back and report for light training on Monday, ready for the game on Tuesday. Everyone is happy Edited by palace99 (26 Jan 2024 10.57am)
