Just finished watching the ITV series and could not believe what I was seeing- a true story about The Post Office and it’s faulty IT system, Horizon, causing losses which they then blamed the sub-postmasters for leading to many being wrongly convicted, sent to prison, a number committing suicide and hundreds losing their homes and businesses. The cover up conducted by The Post Office is staggering and it seems the Government turned a blind eye.

If you have not seen this then definitely worth a watch.

Honestly Eden, even with my scant knowledge/understanding it sounds too infuriating to sit through!

That's where my hesitation is but the whole thing, even at the time, seemed so appalling. Sounds like the series reflects this.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Paula Vennells who was CEO of the Post Office during a large part of this period was incredibly given a CBE in 2019 for services to the Post Office and to charity!

Hopefully the criminal investigation will lead to some prosecutions of the senior PO management who knew the issue was with the IT system but they still continued to blame and prosecute the postmasters.

Had an ex colleague who had to drop out of university and work multiple jobs to help his family after they fell victim to this. It’s an absolute disgrace.

Should also be some learning in there for us as we look towards AI for the future- systems are not infallible so we need to take proper care.

As if the situation couldn't have been worse for those innocently accused and convicted. The leadership of the Post Office was rewarded for her Stewardship with a CBE.
Those innocent Postmasters had their lives destroyed and this totally culpable person will, no doubt, keep hold of her gong.

I disengage, I turn the page.

It was Adam Crozier who was there all the way to 2010 but who has escaped a mention in the series because his next job was head of ITV and they produced this programme.
Shame on ITV for not being honest.
He should shoulder the majority of the blame and I hope that he gets done in the new criminal investigation.
it is a disgraceful episode of time under a Labour and then Tory Goverment.
Labour introduced Horizon and the Tories perpetuated the lie.
Just awful and top brass should be in jail.
Rant over.

I'm keen to watch this, but last night I was too busy binge watching Michelle Keegan in Fool Me Once on NETFLIX.

The petition to strip Vennells of her CBE is approaching 1 million.

No win no fee wins again but not for a lot of these sub postmasters.
Their compo payouts got absolutely rinsed and they got back a pittance of what they were allocated. I thought it was a % of a win and a sensible one but obs not.

I watched all of this programme, and some subsequent interviews with Alan Bates and some of the postmasters affected, and it appears to be a very accurate reflection of what happened, and without inaccuracies.

It's an absolute scandal the way the post office treated these people, and as far as I'm concerned senior management need to go to prison for what they have done.

They not only caused and covered up what happened, but were judge, jury and executioner in the way they accused the postmasters and wrongly demanded money with menaces from them.
