Why do we find it Impossible to score from a corner?.
What is the tally now?

In the league it's 0 goals from 88 corners.

Normally about 2-3% of corners end up in a goal, so we should have 2 or 3 goals by now.

Thanks ambrose!..
Didn't realise % was that small, to be honest.
Maybe it's just from watching other teams scoring from them!

Probably more from watching us waste them, so often the player taking the corner goes over, raises his arm to signal something & then the corner is taken with no obvious indication of what we were trying to do -

I know people were talking about the pros & cons of whether cooper would join palace as a replacement for Roy, at least during coopers time at Forest they employed a set piece coach - if we have one (which I doubt) they should be replaced with someone that knows what they are doing.

corners, free kicks and throw ins. We look clueless. Surely any half decent coach can sort this.

Recently with Richards in CM and Mateta up front we have 5 (with Lerma) decent headers in the team, yet we still rarely look like scoring

The best way for Palace to play the corner for is to play the ball along the line with Olise running on to it and then cut it back.

Aimless punts into the box are easy to deal with.

To the layman, it looks like we don't work on set pieces much, if at all.
The annoying ones for me are the freekicks that go back to Guehi or Mitchell. How the f*** does that work? Launch them into the f***ing box like Everton would and maybe get a chance or two. At least go f***ing forwards.
It's my biggest gripe about our coaching. Pulis made us competitive with set pieces - it's really not that much to ask for of a professional football team.

During Roy’s last tenure, supporters protested outside the Beckenham training ground about lack of coaching on free kicks and corners. The response was brief and defiant. Roy said he did do it and wasn’t going to change now. End of! We might as well close this topic down now.

Of course it it should have said “ he didn’t do it and won’t change now”.

Agree 100%, it’s all about not giving the ball away, so it’s easier to just pass it short / back and keep hold of it without looking remotely dangerous. Just get it up there and into the box and give the opponents something to deal with. Grrrr! And as for corners we might as well just pass them back. Nobody seems to attack a corner coming over and many just go straight into the keeper’s arms. Terrible coaching of set pieces which won’t improve until we get a new manager in my opinion. And as for Eza’s free kick just outside the box on Thursday. Less said about that the better :-(

The first few free kicks hit by Olise or Eze I thought, we are onto something here. We haven’t come close to scoring from a set piece since.
