A very loose suggestion here that we are interested.

I would anticipate an immediate U-turn on my criticisms of him, not least his continued England involvement, were he to come here though I see it as highly unlikely.

Would welcome it however, if our expenditure was minimal, and would make some sense in light of Doucoure's absence.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Well, we need a DM and Phillips is a high profile name that's currently available so there's bound to be the usual speculation without foundation.

I heard the loan fee was £7.5m.

Could suit all parties.

I've been critical of him for England, but that's more at GS's desire to select 2 DMs.

For us he'd be perfect and inject some pace.

But sounds like there are a lot of people interested.

The only (very faint) hope of us getting Phillips is that he will want to ensure that he gets regular football for the rest of the season to help cement his England place and he would get that with us. I don't see it happening, though, sadly.

No chance! Out of our league

Several overseas clubs after him, we need more modest targets.

A striker (plenty around) and creative midfielder (very rare) are our most important needs.

On the other hand if Hodgson stays on no point in getting anybody.

Yup, PSG & Juve being 2 of them.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

A defensive midfielder, possibly on loan, is the priority.
Elneny at Arsenal could fit this bill.

I don't agree. In my opinion, he's not a 'top 6' player.

His priority will be getting in the England squad for the Euro's and if fit, he'll be getting 90 mins each week in the Prem with us.

A 6-month loan deal is the perfect length of time whilst waiting for Doucouré to recover and gives him the chance to play and to put himself in the shop window for a permanent summer transfer away from City.

If the club a seriously concerned about relegation (I'm personally not), it would be worth spending the loan fee and salary.

I'm not sure PSG of Juve are a good move for them for the simple reason of lack of game time.

He's financially out of our league if City still want the £7.5m loan fee. Given Stones' injuries, they're only a Rodri injury away from him needing to play fairly regularly. He won't be given away as an act of charity.

A defensive midfielder won't be the difference between us staying up or not. We'll get enough points with a Richards/Hughes mish mash and Holding as defensive cover. Therefore I don't see the point of spending millions here on a holding midfielder can be far better used on a permanent transfer in an area we need it.

The only way we go down is as a result of Olise/Eze injuries. If we're worried about securing our position we'd be better off investing there. Personally I just really want us to sign a full back.

I’m sure we are interested in Harry Kane ….im interested in winning the lottery!

Plenty of big clubs with money are looking at him…not a hope in hell he’s coming to us.
