OK. Happy to accept I might fall into fan boy, love affair territory, and also I'm only 41 so haven't seen the full pantheon of Palace talent over the years - but with each passing game I'm finding it harder to think of a player we've ever had as talented as Olise. When he's not ice cold from the spot, he's scoring belting free kicks, to some beautiful passing to the chest and volley from the other day. Likewise his dribbling highlights are top tier Bolasie levels. Maybe I'm going mad, but to me I find myself saying he's the best we've ever had more often than a few times in the week. No doubt he'll be gone in the next window or two but could easily be our first 100m player.

It would clearly be a very good thing if we could keep hold of him for another season. And then... Edited by southnorwoodhill (31 Dec 2023 2.27pm)

With you all the way. On current form he must surely have a value of at least £150m if he is looked after.

We have to play our best players to give ourselves the best chance of winning games. The Sports Medicine People recently advised Hodgson to rest Olise while he was still recovering from a serious injury, which he duly did.

Did you spot it yesterday? After his second goal Olise actually smiled. Happy for the guy he is in good form. I would not play him against Everton it looks like he has a mild injury so why risk it. I expect they will win anyway. I would like Franca and Ozoh have a game.

Kenny Sansom and Ian Wright broke my heart when they left and it hurt seeing one of my first hero’s Barry Silkman playing against us for Man.City at Selhurst. But I think with age over the years you learn just to enjoy the occasional gem we get while it lasts because you know they’re going to be snapped up by someone else soon. You sort of get numb to it.

Yep, Michael Olise up there withe Palace greats like Johnny Byrne, Atilio Lombardo and Wilf Zaha. Sadly, his increasing value will probably mean he is sold to finance new players. If he goes one can only conjecture if Franca can adequately replace him If he switches his nationality from France to England he is the equal of Sako and Grealish and would boost our Euro squad.

Is it just me? Not just you IP4Eagle - me too. I started a "Let's talk about Michael" thread in April for the same reason as you. This boy is a wonderful player who is now smiling as well as scoring. His deft touches and his fast running at defenders is a delight to watch. If he stays fit and stays at Palace he will become much more of a cult hero than Zaha. He is less selfish. Seeing Thomas Frank congratulate him at the end of the game was quite something. I suspect there are many other managers who have him in their sights, but we really do need to keep him. Undoubtedly our Star Man.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |

Does anyone know if Olise's new contract has a release clause? I am assuming it has to or he would not have signed it. If his old release clause was reportedly £35m I can see the new one being at least £50m as they know he will probably not be at Palace for longer than Summer 2025.

Sadly Olise will leave us sooner reather than later, but hopefully a buyout clause waas removed completely so as a bidding war can start and Steve can control it. and lets face it he wont be cheap and rightly so. I haven't seen a young player with so much quality and ability for a long time bar Jude Bellingham . I would even go as far to say he is better than Jude. At the end of the day we are a selling club or feeder club as some call it . We also have a new stand to build .Lets face it every player at our club is for sale if the price is right .

In my humble opinion Olise is better than Antony whom Man Utd signed in a deal which could reach £86 Mill. Olise has every chance of progressing to a top club in the world.
