I would suggest most fans of a certain age know what "the Vince Hilaire" kit was. The white shirt with a red and blue sash, made my Admiral.

Is it a stretch to suggest the Virgin kit we wore at the FA Cup final "belongs" (in this same sense) to Ian Wright?

Anyway, you get the idea: What shirts did individual players make their own, either through performance or some other characteristics or contribution?

Im liking this thread . . .

AJ with the Centenary Kit(2005). Gerry Queen with the Claret & thin light blue stripes(1970). Johnny Byrne with the White kit with claret & blue hoops(1961).

I feel Butterfield gets the 2010 GAC/Nike kit?

I will maintain and edit this post in chronological order. I can't second your choices from 1970 or earlier, Eagleman, but will list them for now.

2014 -- Dwight Gayle -- Basel halves for Crystanbul
2013 -- Wilf yellow away kit (Brighton game)
2010 -- Butterfield GAC/Nike red and blue
2005 -- AJ with the Centenary Kit, red shorts
2001 -- Freedman all yellow away kit (Stockport game)
1998 -- Lombardo TDK home and away, especially yellow
1997 -- Hopkin Adidas/tdk shirt v Sheff U
1994 -- Salako TDK yellow with green collar
1990 -- Ian Wright Virgin fa cup kit
1989 -- Ian Wright (red shorts)
1984 -- Kevin Mabbutt red and blue stripes/red rose
1980 -- Vince Hilaire white admiral classic
1979 -- David Swindlehurst (as above). But have reservations!
1975 -- Peter Taylor red & blue stripes with the badge in the middle
1974 -- Don Rogers white shirt with a large claret & light blue stripe separated by a white stripe
1973 -- Don Rogers white shirt with a large claret & light blue stripe separated by a white stripe
1972 -- Don Rogers white shirt with a large claret & light blue stripe separated by a white stripe
1971 -- John Hughes. Two Red & blue stripes without the white divider.
1970 -- Gerry Queen with the Claret & thin light blue stripes
1969 -- John Jackson. Plain green.
1961 -- Johnny Byrne with the White kit with claret & blue hoops

Keep them coming. You don't have to agree!

Putting these here pending years. Not sure Loic Remy deserves any year though. Also, no shared shirts

Shipperley -- yellow shirt with sky blue shorts and socks.
Kenny Sansom or maybe Phil holder -- sash without trim goes,
Butterfield or Derry Red/blue with navy shorts and back of shirts.
Loic Remy Horrible all blue with red vertical stripe.

Tend to agree with Teddy. 72-74 white shirt with a large claret & light blue stripe seperated by a white stripe.

Btw GPW, whilst i agree about Butterfield, surely the whole of the team should 'own' the home shirt for their heroics last game of that season away to Sheff Weds.

Peter Taylor and the mid-seventies red & blue stripes with the badge in the middle. For some reason Jeff Johnson also comes to mind with that shirt.

Gimme a year for Peter Taylor.

While I applaud the sentiment about the whole 2010 year, I quite like trying to get a feel for eras based on individuals.

Also, strangely, I don't have a super strong feeling since the PL era. Maybe Delaney gets one...?

Maybe it's okay that some eras are not linked in this way

When I see the superb adidas home kit with red rose as the sponsor from the early 80’s I always think of Kevin Mabbutt!! He was one decent signing we made in those bleak times who stood out and it was a real choker he got injured
