Can anyone tell me when we last scored from a corner? I sigh every time we get a corner as it just steals time from open play.

I remember one against Oxford away in terrible conditions. We had all the attacks but they had one corner which a gust of wind blew straight into our net. I think it was 1-0 but could have been 1-1. I wonder if there were even 200 Palace there. It was pouring with rain and the away bit was largely uncovered. I seem to remember basically standing on a concrete block.

Every time I see the taker raise their arm just before taking I shudder: the sign means "Nothing's going to come of this" and they're always right. Edited by Glazier#1 (13 Nov 2023 2.55pm) Edited by Glazier#1 (13 Nov 2023 8.22pm)

Andersen this season at OT? Last season i think both away at Bournemouth came corners - including an Ayew header, who is not the biggest. However, agree we don't score many and the lack of imagination is frustrating. A few years ago Cahill scored a great header away at Newcastle, making an early run to the near post. Movement like that would be nice to see. Actually i think that was a free kick but close to the corner.

Eze is wasted taking corners. Should be on the edge of the box. Thought Hughes just as effective/ineffective taking them.

If we're talking corners then worth repeating the stats I read on The Athletic the other day (prior to the Everton game). At the time we apparently had faced 66 corners without conceding this season, the second most in the league behind Spurs with 67. In total we had defended 88 corners in a row going back to April, again the second most in the league behind Spurs with 97. So we might be rubbish taking them but we're great at keeping them out.

Our best ever team back in the early 90’s was good at corners. Andy Thorn used to win just about every flick on at the near post. Always helps when you’ve got players who attack the ball in the area as we did back then, Bright, Gray, Ninja and GT.

We just dont have the physical presence to be any good at the traditional corner of the ball into the box . No CF of any note and centre halfs who are poor headers of the ball when in challenges . Defensively they are Okish as they just have to stop the other guy but attacking is a different ball game Which means we have to be a bit more creative , short corners ,passes to players outside the box and so forth . Just crossing into the middle is not for us
