Cooper rolled out the example of gay people in Uganda where homosexuality is illegal as a reason to brand Braverman homophobic.

Cooper said in effcet gay Ugandans would be eligible for refugee status in the UK.

The adult population of Uganda is 25 million,

Assume only 2% are homosexual.

That means Labour would extend refugee status to 500,000 Ugandans.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Good question. I could make some rude remarks but I wont.

The point Braveman was making is that there is a difference between having an unpleasant life and being in imminent fear of your life.

Many Jamaicans have successfully claimed asylum in this country because they claim to be gay and yet the Jamaican government does not persecute gays. It may not be a great place to live if you wish to live a gay lifestyle, but then lots of places in the world are not great either.

I remember a case where a gay man from Iran claimed asylum, in his situation the Iranian government executed his partner so I think that was a valid claim.

Having a s*** life is not a good reason to claim asylum.

The purpose of the original convention was to protect political refugees but like many things over the years the definition has been broaden.

Braveman has no chance of getting it changed as the many poor countries in the UN plus the countries that hate the west will never allow it.

You only have to look at which countries sit on the UNHCR committee to see which way the wind blows.

These days the UN is just a stick to beat the west, I don't know why we bother.

The absurdity of her argument is quite something.

I guarantee you that 95% of people completely disagree with such codswallop, including a large proportion of gay people.

The wonderfully Cooper never fails to make a point, saying all sorts of things for political capital; still awaiting her taking in a Syrian refugee that she said she would do several years ago when that was fashionable.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

What would happen if anyone could come?
I doubt it would be any different to now other than a lot less regulation to go through as they pour in, and a lot less dingies sold in France.

Go down well with Labours metro wealthy supporters - not so sure about traditional Labour supporters though, if there are any still.
