(BBC) He had an excellent voice, one of my dads favorites He seemed an amiable cove although as a boy he must have left old Durham Town quite often if he spent his time on the banks of the Tyne.

The Last Farewell is very evocative. I didn't like all his stuff but his contribution to music provided a nice occasional escape from mainstream pop music.

There used to be place up west that did a dinner dance after a All the big stars of the day were at it at some time or another and I remember asking the old man how his night out had gone the next morning . (he had a broad yorkshire accent ) Reet bloody waste of me time that RIP RW
