Talk about Scooby Doo on another thread got me thinking about shows I would like to see remade.

Here are a couple of mine, what are yours and why.

I Claudius

I am re-watching this on IPlayer for the umpteenth time with the great Derek Jacobi in the title role.

Why:
The acting is great but the production values are terrible, wobbly sets and characters facing the camera as they address the Roman people instead of showing us the crowds and arena. Zero special affects.

One of the streaming services could do a great job on this and best of all Derek Jacobi could still play the old Claudius.

Dark Skies 1996.
This is a really interesting alternate history Sci Fi show which takes place in the 40-60's America using the key historical moments and presenting an alternate reason. For instance Kennedy is assassinated by the deep state because he is about to reveal the existence of aliens on earth who are planning an invasion.

Why:
This show flopped mainly I think because the lead characters weren't very interesting. The actual plots and how they tied up to modern history worked well but for some reason the public didn't watch it. If you love conspiracy theories this is your show.

Over to you, what are your shows to remake and why

Eldorado - good series idea but lousy sets and wooden acting

Rich ex-pats in Spain deserved better......

Maybe Eagleman13 could have a cameo too......

Why bother to remake anything? You know it will just be turned into a woke fairytale.

Ask the Family but Robert Robinson is irreplaceable, Nationwide but Frank Bough is a deceased pervert, I'd have to plump for Indoor League, maybe with Geoffrey boycott as Ray Illingworth and Bernard Ingham are dead, and I can't think of any more professional Yorkshireman.

The Six Million Dollar Man, but this time that's just two nights in the Premier Inn and breakfast at Wetherspoons.

One of the classics for poor production values was Blakes 7 back in the day

Isn't that Nathan Ferguson?

Blake's 7.....Yep, I'd like to see that remade.

But like Hrolf said, without the preaching.

I'm not a fan of remakes. They never quite hit the mark for me. Talk of remaking Fawlty Towers leaves me cold. Just imagine the deaf guest, the mocking of a Spanish waiter or references to WW2 in the hands of a woke producer. No thank you.

Same goes for film sequals on the whole - Godfather 2 is one exception.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.
