Roy has said that Guaita is unhappy with being forced to compete with Johnstone and has refused to play in our friendlies so far.

“He (Sam Johnstone) is the only choice at the moment because Guaita is disenchanted with the club and has said he would like to move on. A complication is that he has a year’s contract. It’s up to the club to decide, not him. He’s made it clear to everybody he doesn’t want to be here and compete with Sam Johnstone. So Sam Johnstone is No 1 and Remi Matthews is No 2.”

Have always loved Vicente so a very disappointing end to his time at the club if that proves to be the case.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I was nervous the first time Johnstone started but from game 1 I felt like he was a much better shot stopper. It's always difficult to have two similar standard goalies in a squad and with Johnstone edging it you can understand Guaita beint upset to be downgraded to (narrowly I imagine) second place. But he's a grown up doing a job, a player with heart would've tried to re-prove himself during the pre-season to give Hodgson a dilemma. Petulance isn't going to endear him to anybody. See ya later.

I always liked him, good goalie, seemed a good character and well within his right to desire the no.1 spot but if that’s his attitude he can fu€k off quite frankly, shame.

Could always just stick him on a goal line by the bench and he’d never be inclined to move from it!

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

To be honest I’ve always thought he was a bit overrated, Sam Johnstone is a much better all round keeper imo, and maybe deep down Guaita probably knows it. But if he doesn’t want to man up and fight for his place back, then get him gone as soon as possible

Just shows why everyone loved Julian Speroni, not only a great keeper, but you didn’t see him throwing his toys out of the pram when the going got tough or he lost his place in the team

I may be in a minority here , but for me Guiata is still the best keeper at the club.
He’s proven over a number of years for us, has been incredibly consistent and I can only recall one or two incidents where it would be fair to say his mistakes have cost us goals.
This is not to condone his behaviour if he has refused to play, but I would be inclined to reserve judgement until the full facts emerge.
Johnstone has done well over a dozen or so games and deserves his chance, but I would contend that Matthews is not serious competition at Premier League level.

It hasn’t been a great summer so far in terms of news.
Zaha off, Olise injured and then confirmation that clubs are ‘circling,’ speculation around our better players and now the Guiata issue.
The player we sign with tremendous fanfare , Franca, is injured and then there are the injuries to Hughes and Mitchell.
The squad looks stretched.
Roy says he very optimistic that the club will address this by the end of the window, but it sounds that it may go to the wire.
It may be that the fees for the likes of Gray and Adams will come down towards the end of the window and we will wait until the time suits the club.

However, I doubt that the squad at the end of the window will be as strong as the one that finished last season.

When he picked up his injury last season and Johnstone came in he performed so well that he was impossible to drop really. I can only remember Johhnstone having one little howler against Wolves away but apart from that played superbly.

Such a shame he's decided to act like this purely because he has to compete for a place. He's been a good servant for us but we don't need hissy fits and bad attitude in the squad so let's hope we can move him on.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

You just knew he was out of here days after the end of the season. He made that tweet saying he’d always be an eagle…you say that on the way out.

I’m disappointed it ends like this. He’s been a good GK for us. His kicking was atrocious, and Sam is certainly miles better in that regard. We are going to need to look after Sam very well until we get a back up.

Doing us a favor, not a bad keeper good shot stopper but that's about it, one of the worse no 1s in the division, wouldn't get in any other prem team. Was always a position we could improve on anyway.

This is a no brainier.Sell him. We paid nothing, so it’s a win. Sometimes there’s the odd keeper kicking around after the transfer window closes. Otherwise it’s Remi.
Shame to end this way.
