We will very soon be at a crossroads.

For whatever reason, the Middle East have decided to sink a modest amount of their incredible wealth into football. For the football world the current and planned Saudi spend is going to be hugely disruptive. There are a few American investors who in the premier can stand alongside them, but even they will feel the pinch if the Saudis start to spend more as is their plan.
We have to be prepared for change and the disruption that is being seen right now is growing fast. Either we do nothing to accommodate it, or we embrace it and equip ourselves to participate. The choice is ours. We have built a great club with a new but potentially very exciting infrastructure in the academy to source some fine future players.
Our shareholders either need to piss in the pot or get off it. Textor is clearly up for it, but he needs help and a lot of it. Harris and Blitzer do not appear to be responding which is very disappointing and Parish is not in a position to participate financially although he has proven to be an excellent managing director and hopefully will continue. To date, he has done a fantastic job for our club and I see no reason with the right future structure why he can't continue.

My opinion is we need a huge investor, and they are out there, a new ground at Crystal Place which is totally achievable, and push to stay at the top level of world football which we are currently very close to. We are very well located to grow and source top level future stars.
The alternative is we stay as we are and watch all our new found and future talent last a few seasons and then move on to bigger things. For me, this is proving to be very painful and frustrating. Although it is only at click bait levels at the moment, there is undoubtedly some truth to it, and unless we do something at top level, the likes of Eze Olise and Doucoure and any other emerging talent will inevitably follow our ex hero Zaha to bigger and better clubs. (Very depressing.)

It is of course all down to the Board to respond to what is happening on the world stage and make big strides for us to participate. I for one hope they are up for it and have the inclination to pursue it. If not then we need to secure the huge funds elsewhere so we can join the top level and really excel. We are so close to it with everything Parish has put in place.

Parish's one big misfortune has undoubtedly been been finding hefty investors, bringing them on board and then inexplicably seeing them lose interest. So come on Harris and Blitzer, either grab us by the horns and turn us into a top top club which you know you can do, or help us find someone who wants to own one of the best future potential clubs in the premier with so much growth opportunity and with one of the best fan bases on the planet.

The reality is there are only 3 competitions we can win so the odds are heavily stacked against us. We could throw 500 mil at it and be no better off e.g Chelsea. The current model of identifying young talent and then selling on is at an embryonic stage for Palace but is a model the likes of Brighton and Brentford have followed successfully ( although neither have won anything as yet). It seems a sensible approach for a club the size of Palace. We therefore have to enjoy these talents why we have them and hope for a decent cup run and for most season ticket holders good performances and results at home.

I've always said we are a sleeping giant and I stand by that... Just from our area alone we should be a massive club. Croydon itself should be a City.. It won't be because its an absolute hell hole and its sad to see what the Borough (the North side of it specifically) has become.

I think our biggest stumbling block for any future investor is our stadium and the lack of potential to expand it. Would a Saudi invest in us? I don't think so personally. No matter what your opinion of the Saudis they have so much money its ridiculous. Simon Jordan said on Talksport the other week that it is literally impossible for them to run out of money and that says alot I think.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

The Saudi run football scenario is not one I would embrace , in fact I reject it full stop

We would end up with regular season games being played in the desert , Cup Finals in Jeddah KO times to suit the world audience . NO thanks

If what the Athletic are saying re further investment from current shareholders is true, surely now is the time to re visit the possibility of a move back to Crystal Palace Park.

If we want to keep sourcing our incredible young talent, we should be looking to build on Parish's strengths to date and creating a club that will allow players to play at the very top levels and therefore stay with us.

By having a 42000 stadium at the venue of the 'founder of football' site we will be that club. With Harris and Blitzer wealth, that opportunity is standing out a mile now.

What a legacy for their pro sport involvement. Plus it would not cost a lot more than the lopsided approvals at Selhurst, if we buy one of the Qatari stadiums being dismantled for a song.

Come on H&B, you know it makes sense, its got to be done.

Been there too many times to bother again....what with the NIMBY's, the Park Preservation people, 5 Borough Councils and probably Mr Khan sticking his twopennyworth in, it's dead in the water before you start!

And that's before considering it's taken us the best part of a decade to secure a piece of land from Sainsbury's which is no bigger than an SE25 garden.

Redevelopment and groundshare with Croydon FC of the Croydon Sports Arena. Secret agent Zaha to act as intermediary.

As above throw£500m at it and we are there with Chelsea - maybe. Newcastle have entered the big time. How many clubs can operate at this level in England when there are only 4 CL spots equating to ‘success’.
I’m not totally sold on the embryonic growth route. It may work but there are other good academies in London. This South London mantra doesn’t really mean much. It’s only a river which is easy to cross.
I think that some level of sensible competition will only return/ come about with a European League when the clubs bankrolled by Arabs, Yanks or the State go off and do their own thing. Perhaps some meaningful FFP could be introduced.

It's not the winning, it's the taking part that counts!

Ive always said due to the lack of anyone else using it Purley way /Croydon Airport could be the answer .Its a massive peice of land that a skint Croydon council could get out of debt with the football club buying it . Might also lower my council tax

Has anybody else noticed how the benchmark fees for merely good players appears to have dramatically increased this summer?
Brighton have supposedly rejected an £80 million offer from Chelsea for Caceido wanting closer to £100 million.
Forest are apparently looking for in excess of £50 million for Johnson.
Man Utd have just splashed out in excess of £70 million on a Danish kid I've never even heard of.

These types of fees used to be reserved for the truly exceptional players but have now become the norm.
I'm not sure what's caused this sudden spike in fees (state ownership of clubs?, the Saudi effect?),but I don't see it as a healthy development.
Fulham are apparently now pricing their replica kits at more than £100 and it's not uncommon to see ticket prices for games in excess of £60.

I'm a huge fan of the game but fear for the future.
I think we're not too far from a situation where Premier games will be played overseas, super leagues are formed and, if the American owners get their way, relegation is banned.
