its surprising there is so little discussion on here.

any thoughts, observations, anecdotes or other opinions ?

do you find it peculiar to watch a sport and then think ''ooh, she's fit'' ?

i will confess to getting totally thrown by a lines-woman who was eye-candy today.

anyhow, getting back to the main purpose......will England progress ? will any surprise countries, like China, progress and surprise us ? other thoughts ?

it all made me realise how spoilt we are from watching the Premier league. These ladies do regularly hit a few howlers that we would never see, even on a bad day.

However, if the purpose of TV sports is Entertainment, then this World Cup gets my vote of approval.

It's s***e.

I watched the tiniest snippet of the England match. VAR looked at an incident where a Haiti player raked the shin of an England player for a possible penalty. In fact it was shown that an England player had fouled a Haiti player just before said incident, therefore "no penalty". Correct

The referee then yellow-carded the Haiti player who had raked the England player. The woman assisting the commentator - a former England international, I believe - said "I can't see how a yellow card can be given when the incident occurred after the foul that's been awarded". So a former England player seriously believes that once a foul has occurred, no subsequent offence can be committed because the ball is then 'dead'. You could therefore punch an opponent, kick them, hit them over the head with your handbag or scratch their eyes out and the ref could take no action. If I had a head-in-hands emoji, I would use it here.

Rant over. I won't be watching.

I don't mind it. I can certainly get behind some of the teams.

I watched 20 minutes of our game, but gave it up and went to Morrisons!! women’s football is just too slow paced and boring for me.
But having said that, i’m sure it’s more enjoyable to actually be there and if I still lived in Bromley I’m sure I would’ve been up there to support the Palace girls occasionally

It’s on sky news, all over sky sports and the bbc news channels. Desperation to somehow make a crap event seem less crap. Now if they had speed washing up, hoovering or ironing in bikinis I would watch that avidly. Just saying…

Looking forward to the first Women's mass brawl. Nothing as entertaining as a good punch-up.

Better not refer to it as 'handbags' though...

England (from the clips on the news ) were well lucky to win the opener . Re-take the penalty we miss becacause the keeper stepped off the line but no retake for the one we score with half the England side encroaching . They don't even know the rules .

That said I did take a peek at Norway this morning , seeing the shield maidens running around definately .....well you know .
