Before dismissing the idea, here's my logic.

We clearly have a limited transfer budget this summer.

We need someone different upfront to OE and JPM, especially if the latter moves on.

He appears surplus to requirements at Burnley and i can see a loan suiting all parties - he's almost 31 so i would not consider a purchase.

I know his goalscoring record in England is terrible but he's a handful and may get a few headed goals. He still plays for Holland so can't be that bad. He can also help out defensively at set pieces.

If we are considering Che Adams for £15m plus i think this may be a better value for money move.

I'm with you on this. When he was getting vilified at Man U, I was thinking he could do a job for us. He's busy, he's strong, he's good in the air. Seems strange that Burnley don't want someone good enough for Man U. I'm not sure on his age etc, if I were to guess he's 28 or so. If he were 15mil, I'd prefer him to Adams.

I think it’s a good shout, especially the part about his defensive abilities. Yes, we need a forward with a few goals in him but I’m expecting them to also come from midfield, Eze and Olise this season? However, i still hope our other two forwards do the business this season but i wouldn’t be upset if Edouard left on last season’s form and Weghorst replaced him in the squad?

I'm off to Germany on Friday, and I must admit I thought this was something I would be eating with my stein of lager served by a busty blonde wench and with an oohm-pah-pah band playing in the background.

Then I realised it's a footballer.

Wilbraham-esque.

His goal scoring ratio is more than one in three, including 59 goals in 118 games for Wolfsburg. Unfortunately, Wilbraham is more like 1 in 6. He's thirty though, and being slated currently.

Yes, like it, good thinking, so that wont happen

Im sure Roy would be interested. He likes a big target man as much for defending set pieces as for scoring goals

I think he’d just add to the queue of goal shy and/or not very mobile(looking for a polite way of saying donkey) strikers we’ve already got pushing for that one centre forward position.
Although I do agree that it’s the sort of signing we’re probably going to be looking at, because I don’t think we’re going to spending the £20/30 million we probably need to spend for a decent goal scorer

I suspect we would need to pay significantly more than that to get a decent one - 40m at least IMO.
