We seem to do this quite regular .Buy a young player ,big fanfare then nothing for two years or until they move on .

The fee though would suggest he will be nearer the first team than most . Pre season will give a better indication of how our squad develops and who's who in the pecking order .

I liked the look of him from his brief cameos.
Looked enterprising with a desire to break forward and create opportunities.
I think it will be difficult for him to get opportunities though at least for the new season.
Roy barely included him on match days last season preferring the likes of Jairo and Lokonga on the bench.
Roy also likes physicality from his midfield players and in this regard Ahamada suffers in comparison with those he's competing with for a midfield place.
It's early days though and if he excels in training I hope Roy can be persuaded to give him more opportunities.

He's clearly very raw and I'd imagine his defensive positioning will need a lot of work, but on that point there's arguably no better set of coaches for him to spend the summer with than Roy and Ray.

Back end of last season wasn't the time to let him work it out in real time. Roy said he rates him but wants to use those who are tried and tested.

I don't see us signing another CM - I'd expect Ahamada, Riedewald, Hughes, Schlupp to be the back up midfield to Lerma, Doucoure, Eze. If they all stay fit, we may see Ozoh/JWM head out on a loan.

Even the best take time to adapt so I suspect you may be right. In any event he's unlikely to start in a midfield 3 if Doucoure, Lerma and Eze are all fit but I do expect him to get game time this season.

He may well play tonight given Eze only returned for check-up yesterday along with the others who had been on international duty last month.

Whether he’s still actually alive would be a start, as the OP suggests, we do seem to get the occasional player who drifts off the radar a bit
