Why do we underate J Ayew

Fair amount of people don't get ayew, managers that he's played under like him and trust him. Often when we have struggled in forward areas he's been the one trying to create some momentum. He's relative cheap on wages too, every team needs a j ayew , the glue that brings everything together.

We dont, underate him that is . We dont overate him either , he is what he is and we get why he is in the side while at the same time wanting better .

As a striker you have to score goals, it’s as simple as that, and he doesn’t score anywhere near enough. BUT it’s a Palace problem all round with our strikers really, and one thing you can’t criticise him for is lack of effort, at least he puts up a fight and scraps away, unlike a lazy arse we finally got rid of who shall remain nameless

As everyone has said, he can’t hide from his output stats. He just doesn’t score enough and misses a lot of chances! However he is a very good player imo. His ability to keep the ball under pressure and or wins fouls is incredible. His dribbling is also very good, his overall ball retention is top drawer. Also his ability to win a free kick when an opposition breaths on him is remarkable. He’s not a striker, at least not a goal scoring striker. I rate him highly. Maybe he’ll get a bit more game time out on the left this season

He isn’t underrated by the people, who matter. He is consistently selected by every manager for his work rate.

The one season he got 9 PL goals (not that impressive for a PL forward, as many as his other 4 seasons for us combined) he won Player of the Season. How much praise should a 31 year old forward who has 66 career league goals in 419 games be getting? I think he plays better when he's not trying to win a free kick. It's a useful skill to have but he has a tendency to slow down our attacks when we're on a half-break. He's useful to have around albeit is far from being a player I'd be concerned to see line up against us.

Ayew's record as a striker isn't that impressive; but then he's not a striker really and we shouldn't let the fact that he was willing to do a job for a club who'd managed to land themselves with two sick notes and no other options to fill the role blind us to that. Maybe if he gets a chance to play consistently in his best position on the left side of attack, opinions of him will improve. Personally I think he's very hard-working, turns up pretty much every game and he's always willing to give whatever's asked of him his best shot; love him to pieces.

Jordan's a utility man. A versatile player between boxes and in wide positions. The managers trust him. The players trust him. Great player to have in the squad and more often than not starting.
I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry. |
