So, PV has picked up a 3 year contract at RC Strasbourg. If I was a betting man I would put money on him having a decent first season followed by a mid season sacking second year. I wish him well but ultimately don’t have a massive amount of faith in his longevity at any club as a manager.

Good luck to him, I know it went stale last season, but I won’t forget the season before how he freshened things up after a turgid painful to watch couple of seasons under Roy before that.

Good luck to him, not exactly the highest level but decent enough. If he does well, we might see him back in the Premier League. How many managers have failed at Selhurst? Probably every one. We can't blame them all.

He gave me fantasic first season in charge and a trip to wembley. he brought back football enjoyment for me. And I will look back on fondness at his tenure with us.

Pat's first season was almost delirium for me however went south rapidly. He had to go for us and perhaps it will be a steep learning curve for him.

Good luck to him, I wish him no ill whatsoever however if he produces the same pattern at Strasbourg it'll start off gloriously before ending in acrimony once more.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

My immediate thought was yes, "ultimately" you are probably right that every tenure ends in failure in some respect. Maybe there are exceptions though; Roy first time around maybe. A debate for a separate thread perhaps.

Sadly that Wembley visit was around the time our entertaining play under him was nearing at an end. Chelsea didn’t play well that day and we gave them to much respect instead of going at them :-(

I'm not surprised they are rioting, having given Pat a 3-year deal.

Me too, because I think a few have forgotten how grim it had got under Roy the season before. We weren’t just dire to watch we’d started shipping goals and getting outclassed by below average teams. It definitely drained my enthusiasm, but against all the odds having to re-shape an ageing and an out of contract squad PV made it enjoyable again. And for that he deserves a lot of credit
Even Roy has commented on what a joy to work with the re-vamped squad is, so as I’ve said earlier, good luck to him, because I liked the bloke and it was a shame it ended like it did last season.
