Not exactly a marquee signing but I reckon he could be one of our most important additions for a very long time - having Lerma and Doucoure in central midfield is as solid as Guehi and Anderson in defence, and with Hughes and Schlupp as back-up that's a really strong looking midfield with depth, and a great platform for Eze and Olise. Need a striker and a winger still (Wilf going) but I think Lerma fills a hole that has been with us for several seasons - we were over reliant on Doucoure to break up play last season, with Lerma alongside who tends to get forward more we are starting to look a very decent side, which we did in patches last season, Lerma will make us more consistent.

Whether it will be the case or not ex, I am certainly encouraged by it.

Johnstone
Andersen Guehi
Lerma Doucoure
Eze

Seems as though the proverbial spine of the team is beginning to come together. The other major player I'd add in here is Olise however he be a winger (pirate accent)! I am hoping for some further attacking additions over the summer and of course little to no major departures. Lerma and Doucoure a very strong base for the midfield IMHO

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Couldn't agree more.

When he was linked I thought it was a good if not uninspiring signing.

However post signing, and a bit more reading and lots of highlight footage consumed I'm convinced he's going to be brilliant for us.

He is perfectly between CD and EE from a defensive/attacking perspective. e.g. can do either but not a specialist at either. He'll help CD press and be combative, but he's also great at transitioning the play and finding an attacking option early.

Plus he chips in with a few goals.

Plus he adds a bit of height.

As you said, strong spine of the team forming.

Because he plays a slightly unglamorous role he's unlikely to get lots of plaudits, but he'll be dead important to us.

When he signed I read the thoughts of Bournemouth fans and it was clear he was definitely an important player for them and one who doesn't go missing when the chips are down. I agree that he looks like a very good addition. I still think we need a new striker/forward, but right now I'd be confident we could finish mid-table again. Tantalisingly though it feels like we're probably only two or three quality signings away from a higher finish.

I think he will prove to be a valuable asset. He will certainly add some strength in set pieces - we are weak at defending corners.

I would like a more creative player in midfield, none of these are skillful enough or have the guile to fool a defence.

How many millions do you have available? You are describing a £50m player.

Well, Eze was £19 million but is now worth £50 million, perhaps buy someone for a cheap price and develop them!

You said none of our midfielder are creative, now your quoting Eze, who happens to play in midfield!

At the moment but he may become a winger when Zaha leaves.I also think one creator at a club in the Premiership is not enough.

If, as I expect our players suit it, I would anticipate us playing a 4-2-3-1 next season, so our midfield will be built around Doucoure and Lerma with skilful players playing off of them. If we want Eze in the team every week then there is no room for a really skillled midfielder unless he plays in Zaha’s or Olise’s position. Do you read the situation differently?
